i dont know why but i cant use the 13th fret on my acoustic all i get is this annoying thud sound. so is there any way i can fix this myself or should i take it to a professional. any help would be greatly appreciated

sounds like fret buzz. Happened to me on my old acoustic on the 11th fret. As said before, get somebody from a shop to fix it or smash it.

well im kinda broke right now and the place id have to get it fixed at charges like crazy for the simplest things but if and when i get a new guitar im going to have to smash it

..dont smash it just for the 13th fret problem.
unless its not a very nice guitar at all.

even then just give it to someone who doesnt have one.

Take your strings off and put some glue in the bridge. Just barely anything.

Or ask someone who's more experienced with guitars because I'm probably wrong.

EDIT: And don't smash up the guitar. Give it to someone poorer than thou.

It could be a number of problems. Your action could be one, a pro' should be able to fix that problem. Even new guitars come with it, shouldn't be hard to fix for him or her.
