ive been a guitarist for about 4 years, and i decieded to get a bass, i recently got a keyboard with a drum setting so now i can record everything on my own, so maybe that will help with some of these questions

1) Can I use the bass through my guitar amp on a low setting, and nothing bad will happen, or will it always be screwing it up to sum degree?

2)If I use a guitar distortion pedal will it sound terrible, and could it messed up the pedal?

3) And when i get the $, what would be a good amp for thrash, hi-gain, and with alot of low end? i mainly use my fingers if that helps

Thanx

a) yes, low volumes are fine. it's perfect for learning until you can splash on a better amp
b) yes and no. some sound dreadful, others (big muff) are perfect
c) I'll pass on that

DO NOT USE A BASS ON A GUITAR AMP IT WILL RUIN YOUR AMPLIFIER

basses create much lower frequencies than a guitar, and the amplifier is not designed for that abuse. it could blow out your speakers and/or fry your circuitboard. just buy a cheap bass amp.

Ashdown, laney and gallien krueger all make good practice amps. Whatever you do, don't be tempted by behringer.

Peavey makes some nice bass amps as well. I've got a Peavey TNT with graphic EQ that can get almost any sound you want.

Says the guy who makes a thread asking why basses "can't make the high notes"

Anyway, congrats on getting a bass.

I'd like to think you're trying to be funny, but your location makes me doubtful.

The guitar amp will be fine so long as volume is kept exceedingly low (as has been covered before).

And anything can EXPLOTE!!!!11onezorz given enough TNT
