does anyone know the source for the version of just like tom thumbs blues which is on the masterpieces compilation

theres a very similar version in on the albert hall in 1966 album but its not the exact same

the version on masterpieces is IMO one of the best performances by a band EVER

Idiot Wind is on the 'Blood On The Tracks' album, and Maggie's Farm is on the 'Bringing It All Back Home' album. Lay Lady Lay is on 'Nashville Skyline' and I've never actually heard a live version of Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues, so I can't help you there I'm afraid.

Track 4: "Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues" (live version recorded at Odeon Theatre, Liverpool, England, 14 May 1966 found on B-side of 1966 "I Want You" single).

Ah right, sorry for the confusion.

In any case, this is probably the closest you're going to get to finding stuff out. Try buying the 'Bootleg Tapes' as well, or maybe downloading some.

That is a good version of Idiot Wind, Dylan was at his best between 74 and 76. The Rolling Thunder Revue tour was godly, particularly Tonight I'll Be Staying Here With You.
