as you can see my amp is b52 at 212 and one pretty loud best.

my friend on the other hand has a very crappy 10 watt acoustic-electric amplifier.

now we are looking to get an amp for him.

to make it short and simple he doesnt want a tube amp because of all the things involvled (bla bla bla hes making excuses i tried convincing him but oh well)

so what we need is a good LOUD solid state amp for him to use to keep up with my b52. price limit is 400usd and that is pushing it.

are we talking about something possible here?

Dont max your volume...dont max his either if he does get an amp. If you guys are playing together jamming or in a band, you guys shouldn't max your amps without some ear plugs. Hella bad for your ears unless you have a very big room. Just have enough to hear over drums (if there is any). Look into Line 6 spiders if he is a beginner.

It doesn't have to keep up with your amp, unless the drummer is miced you only have to compete with the drummer not the other amps. I mean I'm sure you don't dime your amp when you jam do you?

Not sure what "all the things involved" means when talking tube amps, does he mean the tube change every couple of years?

uh the jazz chorus seems not suitable for us and is way too expensive anyways.

and he is by no means a beginner.

and ill take that volume thing into mind

Considering you've got two seperate amps that are different brands and different types I think its a given they'd sound different anyway. Normally you'd mic both amps and control the seperate sound levels with a mixer anyway.

the H&K looks good and im assuming you sold it because you needed money right ? (not cus it sucks)

also what are peoples opinions about hte peavey bandit, it looks pretty good?

the first one seems to be the beast but it doesnt even have the normal peavey symbol but apart from that it seems the same as the last one which is discontinued.
and the two in the middle seem so similar...

which is the best among these?

i couldnt even find the first one on the peavey website

I'm of the opinion that Peavey Bandits suck.

You realise the difference between the 80W Bandit and a 60W Cube is going to be barely noticable don't you?

Go for a Cube.
#19
actually i was under the impression that the bandit had a better tone than the cube but please correct me if im wrong

IMO peavey amps represent dependability and quality, and their guitars are pretty sweet too ;D

A cube is more versatile, also consider the AD50vt from Vox, Or Crate amps. Roland and Randall are good to look at.

If you are VERY lucky you might be able to pick up a flextone for 400, but likely not enough watt version.

Nooooooooo don't do thaaaaaat! lol. Don't di that for a beginner. His ear will get used to bad sound and for any musician, that's not good!

buy the crate half stack that I'm selling. It's way below your budget, and it'll keep up with most anything.
Telecaster - SG - Jaguar
Princeton Reverb, Extra Reverb
P-Bass - Mustang Bass
Apogee Duet 2 - Ableton Suite

I'm begging you, just get the Cube 60. It's one of the best sounding, diverse, and loudest solid state amps you're going to get. Once solid state amps go past 100 watts thats really unecessary since those loud maximum volume tones are unusable since they sound like crap. If you really need the extra volume, (which you won't) you can mic it or plug directly into a PA/speaker cabinet via the jacks in the back.
#30
alright then so ill stick to my original suggestion of the cube 60

thx for all the help

Yeah, get a Cube. I personally hate the Bandit 112. I mean, it's not horrible, but it's just not good. At all.
