I cant for the life of me figure out what amp Dan Auerbach from the Black Keys uses. I know they record with various ones, but his live amp is usually this small Fender-looking combo (almost like a blues junior or princeton) plugged into a tall cab. I read somewhere (only one place) that it's a custom build - based off of a Princeton. Just wondering if anyone else has some insight.

I just dont get it though. A blues junior is definitely not loud enough for the late show, even with a cab. I've seen some pics of him using marshall reissues, but this amp seems so cool, and I love the tone he's getting (he uses a fuzz as well).

I think a blues junior would be loud enough. They can just mic whatever the hell it is you're using. They probably have a very powerful P.A. and what not.

Thanks anachronism. So it is basically a blues junior (both have the two EL84's). I don't think a blues junior is class A tho.
