That list fails for having Zacky Vengence on there. It also isn't valid because it has no Mark Tremonti.

Glen Tipton? James Hetfield?

They fucking own.
Now lets take a look at who is on the list.

Synyster Gates, Herman Li, and Angus Young...

Hmm.

The Dragonforce guitarists may be able to play fast, but in all honesty they play dribble. I don't think the Avenged Sevenfold guitarists should be there either, in all fairness they are good, but not great.

Also, it lacks Dimebag Darrell.

the thing is, the people having a go at dragonforce and avenged sevenfold are the up-their-own-arses guitar purists who hate anything which has a fanbase including emos or various other idiots.

everyone seems to hate these bands today, just because theyre frightened of being compared to certain people with bad music taste.

theres nothing wrong with dragonforce, nor avenged sevenfold. all 4 of those guitarists are extremly talented.

rolling stones' list of the 100 greatest guitarists had NOTHING to do with how talented the guitarists were, it was all about how popular the bands they were from were.

this list is extremly good

John 5! John 5!

Yeah, take out the A7x guitarists, put and replace them with Buckethead and John 5.

Personally, I would also like Alexi Laiho and Jeff Loomis, but that might just be me.

And, as usual, this should be labelled 'Rock and Metal Guitarists'. So many skilled flamenco/jazz etc guitarists that no one here has ever heard of (including me )

Right, so Synyster Gates is on there, but Satch and Dime aren't.

Logical.

John Butler is an acoustic folk guitarist

i didn't expect everyone to agree, and it's not perfect, but i think in the world of these lists this is a better one, chosen by Eddie Van Halen

I think we should all accept that no matter what, there will never be a perfect list of the greatest guitarists in the world, as it is impossible because such a list is written purely from opinion. No matter what, there's always going to be someone left out or someone who doesn't deserve a spot.

Better than most lists i've seen...but lacking still...

Crap. Where's Eric Jonson and Satriani?
Someones knowledge of guitar companies spelling determines what amps you can own. Really smart people can own things like Framus because they sound like they might be spelled with a "y" but they aren't.

i dont think avenged sevenfold is as skilled as a well respected band by the name of racer x

racer x= could pull off everything live
could actually improvise
played everything cleanly
and made music for the hell of it

avenged seven fold- cant pull off half of whats on their album live
improvise the same three phrases over and over
and on top of that its sloppy as hell
and most likely make music for the money that they get from fanboys buying their merchandise

now im no shredder by any means, save occasional sweep picking fits, but i would much rather look up to paul gilbert than to synyster gates
