okay, so ive been playing for a year and a half and i think its time for an acoustic.

ill have about $500 by my birthday (july), so trying out is not an option until around there. so i'd like to get some choices.

ill use the acoustic mainly for songwriting late at night with my bassist, but what ill be playing is stuff like:

Megadeth
Judas Priest
Trivium
AC/DC
MCR
Poison

stuff like that. i also want it electric.

NOOB ALERT! acoustics can be run through electric amps right?

thanks guys!

Takamines are pretty popular and good value for acoustic-electrics. Fenders aren't too great for acoustics.

Try something like these:

Also, for the style you're looking for, I'd say to make sure you get one with a cutaway. Also, it's never bad to check in to your local guitar shop and mess with the pre-amp a bit and plug it into an amp to make sure you're not disappointed with the sounds you get when you plug one in.
