I was trying out guitars at a local shop, and played a C-1 Blackjack there. Nice guitar, but then I fell in the love with the Tempest. Light, thin neck...real nice. Anyway, its sound wasn't quite as good as the Blackjack. The guy at the shop it was probably the pickups, and they could be switched out. He suggested Rio Grande pups, which he uses in many of his own guitars. After looking them over, I was thinking of having them install a Muy Grande set.

I should mention I play blues and rock (classic or hard). Oh, and any suggestions on a nice tube amp (between $500-800) too would be appreciated.

I've really liked the Tempests that I've played (and I like the lipstick pickups that they come with).

For an amp, check out a Vox AC15.

^I'd let a pro look at it. Once you get into the technicalities of screws...well, it's just a place you don't want to be, friend.
