OD-20. has ALOT of different distortions. plus the metal zone on the OD-20 is ALOT better than the real metal zone. it has more bass to it. and has more life to it.

Modified Squier Strat (blues and anything)
Vox Valvetronix AD30VT

^ You must be from the pit, yes?
This all comes down to preference...

To the threadstarter:

You basicly need to go try them both, and others, out for yourself. We really can not tell you which one sounds better, as that is an entirely subjectual idea there.

We can tell you which is more rugged and reliable, but that's about it... I say we, but I don't include myself in that, as I've never tried one.

Try dist/OD pedals outside of Boss.

i echo the budget question. if you can drop a decent amount, there're probably better options for you than either. if you're dead set on one or the other, i'd suggest the OD-20. i agree that the metal zone on it sounds better than the mt-2, plus you've got 4 presets to save other sounds on. personally, i'm not a huge fan of the metal zone by boss (or of that music in general) but, as far as tone goes, i think the digitech metal master spanked the mt-2. might wanna check into that one too.

Have you seen the new BOSS METALCORE pedal?
It offers an insane distortion..although it is VERY hardcore.
The MT-2 is a good pedal for Medium-Hard Dist.
The Od-20 is an extremely versatile pedal.

So it all depends on what you are looking for.

There is alot of different distortions, man.
1. Led Zeppelin
2. AC/DC
3. The Beatles
4. Deep Purple
5. Black Sabbath
6. The White Stripes
7. Stevie Ray Vaughan
8. Steve Vai
9. Ozzy Osbourne
10. Foreigner

playing by yourself is like masturbating, sure it feels great, but it's nothing compared to the real deal.
