hey dudes/dudesses
im having a hard time choosing between the ashdown fallen angel 40 watt
and the Peavey 6505 Head Guitar Amp...

i know ultimately that ill want a stack but its going to be hard transporting it around, especially to and from school...

im into neo/classical, powermetal (angra, edguy, symphony x) and was wandering if either of these amps suit the purpose well? or am i better off getting a solidstate?

the ashdown is 600 bucks not including postage, so about 700bucks inc postage
the peavey is 1000 dollars (australian)
aslo as far as a cab goes what should i look for? ive been ofered a Laney 4 X 12 classic 80's quad, and was wandering if that would suit???

thanks for all the help! if i ought the peavey i could always buy a roland cube for school maybe too?

thanks guys and my budget is 1300 AUS max

5150 and 6505 are basically only a namechange after EVH left. I would go with that if you can swing the cash. Also, you could get a 2x12 instead of a 4x12, just an option. With a seperate cab, you can get a closed back, which imo has a tighter low end for metal. I think it's actually easier to carry around a head and 2x12 than a 2x12 combo too.

What about the 5150 combo? 60watts 2x12. I personally think it sounds a bit better than the head version of it...

5150 combos, they dont produce anymor i dont think. i cant find them on thier website and i think i read somewhere that they were replaced by the 6505

Metal_Injection is looking secondhand, there's no way the 6505 heads are AU$1,000 new so a 5150 combo is definately an option.

As for the amp that's a good price for a 6505 here. If you're into metal go for it and look for a 2nd hand cab for it.
