i've tried the Jackhammer and its a very natural sounding distortion pedal, clipping wise. But by itself, the gain isnt enough for heavier music like metal, etc.

to cross into that metal territory, i used like 10% amp overdrive and 90% jackhammer distortion and it pretty much gets chuggy

I've been wondering about the Echohead, it's cheap compared to Boss DDs etc. I tried it and it seemed ok.

I've tried that regenerator one however and it pretty weak.

The Ed-1 is the coolness. It gets a bit noisy at high compression levels, but so does any distortion pedal. Great for getting extra sustain. you need a booster after it, though, because all taht compression kills tone.
