I'm thinking about sticking another pickup into my V for a total of three pickups and modifying my 3-way switch into a 5-way.

Any thoughts on what I'd have to do and rough estimates of cost?

btw, if you're wondering which pickup, it's one of these.

Modifying the switch? It's better just buy a new switch?

The last DiMarzio one is really, really overpriced.

Here's a 3 pickup Gibson style switch. It only has three options, but you can choose them. You can even do a push/pull pot to change the options for the pickup switch.

Push/pull pot?

Could I do the same with my stock switch?

Probably not.

Actually, your V has a pickguard, right? Why not just get one that's either blank, or already made for a 5 way blade switch.
