JOKER

(Intro/Bridge)
C#m7
See the army boys out on parade
B
With dirty hands; green berets
F#7
The joker sighs, and kicks back his chair
B
Shakes his head, runs his hand through is hair
C#m7 B
"People is people," he says by and bye
F#7 A
"And people's babies is gone off to die"

(V1)
C#m7
Tie-die t-shirt
B
Faded jeans
F#7
Nobody knows
B
What he really means
C#m7
"Pick a hand"
B
He says with a smile
F#7
"Find my soul and
A
I will stay for a while"

C#m7--B-F#7

C#m7--B-A

(V2)

Empty conscience
Insincere
Stream of life
Drank from it here
He plays us hard
And dies with a smile
Six-string voice
Let him talk for a while
(Lead to instrumental)

(V3)

You're a joker
And you know what I mean
Dirty thief
You know life is lean
He don't have much
Just got what he need
Smiling eyes
And a girl on his knee

(V4)

Shallow pockets
Sticky hands
Conflict child
He makes no demands
"Live for love
And love how you live"
Joker living
Learns how to forgive

(Chorus) (Outro)
C#m7 A
The joker is at home in the night
B F#7
Nobody thinks that the joker's alright
They say he's crazy; comes and goes
The joker says what he don't know
(Outro-only)
The people are in love with the boys who fight
The joker loves too, but he knows they aren't right
Crazy man, he rues the day
The joker man just walks away

The chords make sense, really. I just type enough that I can remember where the repetitions are. Crit 4 crit, of course.

Sounds great. Reminds like of something Hendrix or Dylan might have written. I just think the last four lines are a bit shaky but no matter.

I wasn't sure about those last lines. They are quite up to snuff with the rest of the work. I might just do the chorus once more as the outro.

That sounds great, the lyrics are much like dylan's(which is defiantely a good thing). I agree with Sloopy that if you edit the last lines it will be perfect. Very nice.

i think it is awesome - very dylan and i am a big fan of his writing..so by admitance a big fan of your song. only thing i would change that i thought anyhow - was...

You're a joker
And you know what I mean
Dirty thief
You know life is lean
He don't have much
Just got what he need
Smiling eyes
And a girl on his knee

i really didnt like the use of the word "lean" there - throughout the whole song it was the only word that struck me as forced - and it didnt quite fit properly.
peace out
