I'm guessing F is a little too obvious...

F Mixolydian would sound pretty cool. F Ionian of course, and the two pentatonics would both work.
Yeah Dimebag is not the "Greatest Guitarist" of all time... Hendrix maybe... I must go get food to eat with my mouth

$250 for an amp? wow. is it worth it to invest that much in the amp?

F mixolydian:

e|-----------------------------------1-3---
b|----------------------------1-3-4-------
g|--------------------0-2-3---------------
d|-------------0-1-3----------------------
a|------0-1-3-----------------------------
e|-1-3-------------------------------------

the notes are F-G-A-A#-C-D-D#-F

F lydian is:

e|----------------------------------0-1-3---
b|--------------------------0-1-3-5-------
g|--------------------0-2-4---------------
d|-------------0-2-3----------------------
a|------0-2-3-----------------------------
e|-1-3-------------------------------------

The notes are F-G-A-B-C-D-E-F

F major and all of its modes would sound good, its up to you to choose the mode you want for the sound you want.

If you aren't very good with modes a safe bet would be the F pentatonic major or the
D pentatonic minor .

The notes are
F G A Bb C D Eb

The Eb will clash with the 3rd of the C chord a bit (E)

Personally i would stick with F Ionian or D Minor
Depends on what sound you want

I bet you were trying the minor pentatonic instead of the major pentatonic

Well, it obvoiusly appears that the progression resolves to F.
The notes in the chords you listed are F A C E G Bb D F. All of these notes are in the F major scale (F G A Bb C D E). Since everything resolves to F, you would want to have it in an F major scale. (It doesnt resolve to D so you wouldnt want to play D minor, although it contains the same notes, because it wouldnt feel like it would have a good climax and resolve.)

Summing that up, the way to have a solo that suits the progression best is an F major solo (F major pentatonic works if you want to use that.) You could use other scales (such as F mixolydian), but some of the notes may clash.
Hope it helps
