I'm trying to learn how to sweep pick, does anyone know any cool songs that have some sort of sweep picking in them?

sweeps from heaven and canon rock-jerry c

seizethe day outro solo- a7x
You'd probably be better starting off with basic chord shapes and get them down before moving onto songs with sweeping in them,

i know i've said this before, but Handel - Arrival of the Queen of Sheba. speed it up and put some distortion on to make it metal, if you want. it has loads of 3-string sweeps in it if you tab it right.

Wintersun - Beyond the Dark Sun, Starchild
Nevermore - Sentient 6, I Voyager, This Godless Endeavor
SYL - Wrong Side (If theres a tab available for it)

Avenged Sevenfold's Bat Country, and Beast and the Harlot. I started off with beast and harlot and then moved to silent night, bodom night by Children of Bodom . It's a little more challenging but thats what i started it off with and i found it helped alot.
#10
protest the hero, blindfolds solo, it's quite simple sweeping, just basic stuff.

^^If you're talking about ripping off good bands, you're right on target.

As for sweeps: Try the sweeps in Stream Of Conciousness (Petrucci's fast solo) by Dream Theater. Crazy awesome.
#28
Well, if you're just starting sweeps, I'd go with something easy. Maybe some Metallica, or Megadeth.
#30
^do you know of any good sweeps on and justice for all?

Pretty much any Children of Bodm song, the intro to Megadeth's "Skull Beneath the Skin", Nevermore's "The Psalm of Lydia"

Leper Messiah is a good place to start learning sweeps.

that was the first thing i ever swept, but now that i can sweep, i am pretty sure that isnt sweeping, it is much easier to pick that slow rather than sweep (for me anyways)

Dethklok likes sweep picking. "Thunderhorse" in particular makes heavy use of sweeps.

The intro to "Smoke and Mirrors" by Symphony X is a series of long sweeps.
#36
Any song by Necrophagist or Wintersun has great sweeps.

Well, most.

That, and then most TechDeath bands do, too.

Between the Buried and Me - Alaska (The intro is amazing) or the solo of Selkies: The endless Obsession. Seriously, metal or hardcore, they're amazing.

Wintersun, Necrophagist, Nevermore, Between the Buried and Me, new Deicide, Arsis, Vital Remains are all good for sweeping, but highly difficult if your just starting out.

Id reccomend just doing simple exercises at first, of different major, minor and 7th shapes.

They'd be damn good for sweeps if there were any decent tabs for their music.
