That's exactly what I thought of the album. I can understand why people have ranted and raved about it because some of it is excellent, but as a whole it almost puts me to sleep.

I figured that is how you would respond as I saw what you wrote on the deerhunter last.fm...

I think they're good, but certainly not deserving of the hype that they've gotten. Plus, in a picture of them on Pitchfork one of their members looks like he's about 80 pounds.

Just started getting into this band. At first they didn't do much for me but they are definitely a band that grows on you.

I am seeing them at the ATP gig at Kentish Town with The Black Lips, Deerhoof, Liars and the **** Buttons. Are they good live? Cos' I imagine they are either really good or really bad.

I like them quite a lot, the Fluorescent Grey EP is great too, hopefully going to see them on their tour soon.

lots of new songs from their upcoming album, Microcastle, are now on their myspace. Agoraphobia is really great.

Interesting that they ditched the whole ambient aspect of Cryptograms. But at least now every track on the new album is a song. I guess I'm not used to Deerhunter sounding almost like a conventional band (probably not exactly the right term to use), but they pull it off really well.

I downloaded the free Lights In The Sky: Over North America Tour Sampler of NIN's supporting bands, and they're on it (the song is "Like New"). It's quite good.

i'd love to have it on vinyl, but i don't want to spend the extra money...maybe i'll ask the folks for it.

I prefer Brandon Cox's Atlas Sound material than him in Deerhunter. They've just never clicked with me for some reason though I think the AS stuff is incredible.

micracastle>wierd era cont.>cryptograms. ive never listened to flourscent grey so i don't know where to incorporate that into the scheme of things.

bradford cox has some genetic disease (i forget what it's called. and i read somewhere that one of the Ramones had it also) that makes him incredibly skinny. some of you seem comfused about that.

It's called Marfan syndrome.

I was talking to a drummer from a local band once about Deerhunter's drummer, and he said that Deerhunter's drummer has used two ride cymbals like a hi-hat. Any truth to this? I've been trying to find a video to see it, but I've had no such luck.

seeing them tonight, i am thrilled. i am probably bringing a camera so, i should have some pictures for y'all.

also, Lotus Plaza (Lockett's solo project) has been leaked for a while. anyone have thoughts on it?

i have pictures from the show last night, including one of Bradford's pedals for those of you that might be interested.

i'll edit them in later when i am on my computer.

i didn't, i asked to stage worker man to take the picture. that is why the digidelay is cut off and there is a foot included.

Listened to Deerhunter all yesterday after finding the noise pop show. Good stuff, Microcastle still makes my top albums of the season/year list.

Microcastle is tremendous. Perfect blending of pop, noise, and atmosphere. Haven't heard something that well-engineered since Souvlaki.
