I've never really tuned my bass to anything other than standard, so i asked my friend and he told me how to tune it to drop b and drop d:
drop b --two flats
drop d--3 flats and the 4th string like a 5th string

anyways my question being, are these right?

Uh...

Drop D = one whole step down from E (2 flats on a tuner)

Drop B = two and a half steps down from E (just play 2nd fret on A string and tune the E to the octave below that)

Drop B is retarded to do on a 4-string bass anyway, please don't.

Sounds to me like an excuse.
