Ok, so I'm jamming last minute for a project and i need 5 pieces of media for these 5 characteristics:

1. Nonconformity
2. Self-Reliance
3. Free Thought
4. Confidence
5. Importance of Nature

One example for each, can be anything.
Ex: Song, Book, Magazine Article, Painting, Movie, Newspaper article

Anything as long as its appropriate.

So input would be great, I'm dying here lol.

that one song by Sum-41, Fat Lip or whatever.

I dont like the song but its a perfect example of non-conformity

you should check out Death's album "Symbolic", i think that has a bunch of things that would help out. hopefully.

each song has a different topic, but i think its up your alley

fat lip might be good but bulls on parade is so much better

what about v for vendetta under number 3? or maybe the book Less Than Zero by Bret Easton Ellis ...

Well it depends what you'd consider conforming...

Because if you want to get technical, everyone who doesnt conform or refuses to conform....is conforming to a certain group of people that dont conform either...

The Anthem by Good Charlotte is a good example of a song about not conforming though.

Random Metal-X fact:

Metal-X now sponsors: Blood Culprit!

What's with all of the threads about school projects lately?

Do your own homework.
Poor advice.

Can you combine them all? If so, "Walden", be Henry David Thoreu (however you spell it) covers all those bases.

that's because he was a transcendentalist ... i think that might be cheating

and i think by appropriate he meant that he needed it to fill the bill ... not language wise

aaand if we're going to mention good charlotte and sum-41 we might as well throw in anything from linkin park ... non-conformity is by far the easiest one of the bunch

^^ true... but this one could actually make a decent thread...

its really subjective

i never want to hear about transcendentalism again. school curriculums ruined any merit or effect it would have had on me. thoreau and emerson said some profound stuff, until i had to read them and their BS for a month straight. i get it! you don't have any friends, you're ugly as hell, so you went to go live in the fucking woods. they just took their social ineptitude and made a goddamn philosophy out of it.

screeching weasel - "my right"

My right to say what I want
and think the way I want to think
My right I want to speak my mind
My right to yell, my right to scream
My right and no one's ever gonna tell me what i have to do
I'll live my life the way i want
I don't care about your little world
And I can't believe you're telling me
What's good for me, how do you know what's good
And i can't believe you're telling me what to believe
Get away from me
My right
No matter what i do to you
It's always one big mistake
Well I'm sick of you, I know I'm right
You sleazy, money-grubbing fake
My right, my life, my mind, my soul, my body, my existence
Means that I don't have to listen to you
It's my right cause I'm a human being
My right to say what I want
and think the way I want to think
My right I want to speak my mind
My right to yell, my right to scream
My right, my life, my mind, my soul, my body, my existence
Means that I don't have to listen to you
It's my right cause I'm a human being

perfect i'd add The Outsiders by Susan Eloise Hinton for self-reliance, and anything by emily dickinson for importance of nature (number 328 etc) ... she's always a winner as far as transcendentalism goes

is The Outsiders that one book with Ponyboy and the whole greasers vs preppies thing? That was a great book
