i love fender telecasters.
im an indie kid.
i like a little punk, indie rock, indie, garage.
im thinking of picking up a fender standard.
at the same time my friend wants to start up a grindcore band.
i dont mind playing grindcore, and im kind of okay.
but im thinking.
could i play grindcore on a telecaster?
or should i stick with my epiphone les paul?
if i can play it on a tele anyone interested in buying the paul?

i doubt it, i've played tele's trough high gain amps and they're too trebly for that

maybe if you change the pickups for some emg's or SD's it will sound better

but you will ruin that beautiful telecaster clean tone

just put a humbucker in the neck and you'll be fine.

i doubt it too, tele has a singlecoil pickups

grindcore is a hard music, use solid tone of humbucker, i think

Meh, you could with the right gear, but it'll be a hell of alot more difficult to get that tone, when you could get it easier with another guitar...

Why not keep your LP AND get a tele, use the LP for the grind, and the tele for everything else.
#16
Just buy the tele and use the Epi for the shitcore

I've used both Telecasters and Strats in my joke grindcore band "Penguin ****er". However, we use Ibanez and Jackson guitars now. To be fair, messing about with the amp settings sometimes gets ye a nice bassey tone, and I've always found Strats to be good for that really chuggy sound too. So yeah, they can be used alright. But I'd suggest you use humbuckers.

Sure it'll work. You can use a damn jazz holloybody for deathrock if you know how to use effects, distortion, and noisegates properly (And I know that was spelled work). It might be a little thin sounding, but put some pure nickel strings on it and that'll fix right up. Use a good noisegate and a good amp and know how toset you EQ and you'll do fine.

You coul dget one of those Tele deluxe/ Tele customs (they're both the same i think) they should give you that tone.. . . but its basically just fenders answer to an SG/LP.

Or get a fat tele.
Or get a regular tele and switch the pickups.

I prefer the first and last answers, I hate fat [insert fender guitar] that are bought, IMO unless you have put the Humbucker in yourself then you aren't playing a real strat. . . .but I'm crazy. . . .also I wouldnt put a humbucker IN a Mex/Jap/american strat. Only a squier. >_>

Well, you could get either of these... John 5's Tele models run about $850 brand new, and while the triple-humbucker one probably won't be suited for "indie," the humbucker/single could probably handle them both.

John 5 HHH Tele

That being said, any of you who doubt the Telecaster's ability to sound heavy should watch these.
