Does it make a difference if you anhor your fingers on the guitar while playing. I've heard people say that you shouldn't and I've heard that it has no effect on your playing. What is the right answer. I've been playing for a year and I have always anchored my fingers. When I try not to I feel weird and can't play much of anything.
anchor? on a bass right?
No guitar. I meant when I'm picking I leave my pinkie anchored on the guitar
its ok to do it unless you're playing REALLY fast in which case its only natural to lift it off.
Oh, that's not a bad thing. It gives you a sense of where to put your arm weight. As long as it's not muting the strings, I would think it's fine.
Please search. There are many threads on this. I don't suggest it because it usually adds tension to your picking hand, which ultimately slows you down. But this has been debated a lot. I think there is one in the archives on anchoring. Try reading that.
