I have a new song up! "fusion Tune" And remasterd "mountain side jam" Sorry if fusion tune is out of the groove at time, I recorded the drums first with no click track, so I just had to wing it. I recorded all the instruments Either DI (bass) or with a sure sm 57, cept drums with 2 COND. mics into sonar 4 and mixed it all in there. I improved the solos, so keep that in mind. Any comments would be nice. Site is in sig.

dude, i love your music. very very groovy, and well recorded. i thought some of the whammy bar effects were a little over the top at times, but youve got some skills on the guitar. whats your rig for getting that lead tone?

very nice acoustic work on mountain side jam. i didnt think the bongos sounded that great for the song, but it was still really good. i think i should pick up a shure sm57 after hearing that. awesome work. mind giving me a listen?

Fusion Tune = very very nice. Some of the guitar reminds of Santana's fusion days. Lead guitar was very powerful and very good AND appropriate tone!! Also the wah backing worked real well too. I only wish the backing vamps would switch chords at some part. Possibly move up to emphasize the 3rd or 7th at some part.

Mountain Side Jam is pretty outstanding in my opinion as well. I agree with allstrats that the bongos didnt turn out amazing. Next time you record them try to find a set up that gives them more depth. (my opinion, nothing more). Also what is that big boom?

I must say both of these tracks are very appealing to my stylistically. Keep up the great work.

ps: im listening to Happy Troubles now and its pretty neat as well. Some bass parts are quite interesting actually relative to the guitar.

fusion tune: pretty sweet the drums are obvoisly a bit off, but pretty good. i'm not crazy about the effects on the guitar. i like the backing. i think the bass could be more interesting.

mountain side jam: sweet riff, the harmonics are a bit awkward. i though the bongos were pretty good actually. is there a shaker in there too?

crit my stuff?

Thanks for the comments, I dont like the bongo sound either, but how can i make it not so thin and annoying? any good tips on micin' percussion?

Ill answer some question--

I nail that tone with my RG320 with duncans into a Jekyll and hyde overdrive and a dyna comp to a twin reverb into normal channel 1 and then a dd-20 for delay.

The big boom in mountain side jam is my 2 floor toms, that i compressed the hell out of and added reverb, and eqed em.

There is a shaker, I think it really fills out the mix.

Thats a very clever mix on the toms then, congratulations!

Were you micing the bongos with the shure or the condensers, and if with the shure, how close was it. I find that close micing with it adds lots of bass so you could try micing them real close with it (assuming you didnt already).

And what duncans in the rg?

I miced it as close as possible, but with the sm57 cuz i was too lazy to change mics and push the pad and phantom power button. I got a JB/Jazz combo in the RG.

Damn, sorry then, not too sure how to mic them then. Maybe ask in another forum for some advice.
