I started playing guitar a couple monthes ago, I'm not amazing but I'm pretty good, I don't like my Squier Bullet, I want a new guitar, anywhere from $200 - $500. I want a cool shaped guitar, or something that looks like a les paul shape. I play any type of metal.

I'm going to post some guitars I am looking at, and opinions on these orany suggestions about different models is fine:

All LTDs under 400 are made of cheap-ass wood.

I'm suspicious of the Deans, as it doesn't even state the wood.

IMO LP style guitars have too fat a neck for playing fast - not saying you can't on one, I just don't like them for it.

I'd go with a Jackson dinky. Metal styled guitars are just false IMO, they make you look a massive preppy poser. Basically, my recommendation: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Jackson-DXMB-X-Electric-Guitar?sku=512239

My friend has one. It's sick.
The Laney Thread are big and clever. No exceptions.

i dont think a floyd is the best for him if hes beginning. Look at an Ibanez Rg321mh

i used to have a jackson js20or 30 dinky hardtail guitar, i liked that.

the warrior's not bad at all, from what i played at least, the pickups were too hot for me, but i'd replace them anyway

If you click on manufacturer detail, it says that the Dean's are made of Mahogony

This is a very common mistake. Just because it is a certin wood, Dosen't mean it's a high quality wood. This is that whole " Why's an epiphone less expensive than a gibson " Deal. Woods come into play. With your guitar, I'd go for an epiphone STANDARD les paul, And replace the pickups ( And you don't even have to replace them. ) If you can't push metal with that guitar, You're amp sucks. =P But that's my idea, I personally don't play metal too much so I don't know if it counts.
