Get more RAM.

I went from 254 MB to 768 MB RAM and it only was free, due to it being a gift ($70) but my comp is old and your RAM might cost more. It's way faster now, and I can run more programs at the same time, woot.

Not always like that, even if he did he would most likely ending up spending $500 doing that. Considering is computer is slow that means his computer is out of date.

Do an online scan, my computer was once slow as hell but it was because the hard-drive disk was broken.

my comps slow too like only 120MB RAM

if its your internet you might want to get roadrunner or a faster internet connection but if its for all around applications then you could start out by getting more R.A.M. but its not gunna matter if your processor is slow check to see how man GhZ your cpu is if your going to get a new processer get a Gibabyte motherboard and get a nice AMD Athelon Processor AMD IS better then most Intel in some aspects but idk if u have any other questions just PM me i know alot about computers i built my own and i always fix them for other people

only 120ish MB RAM?

The suggested standard today is 1 Gig, mate.

Today's Gig is yesterday's 512MB.
Life is underrated.

And as for a decent processor... Pentium D. They're very fast and simple Dual-cores, and, for the more hardcore. they can overclock to upwards of 4Ghz with proper cooling.

Don't think he needs a dual core, he's not making a server or anything. I'd recommend an AMD 64. They're fast, 64-bit, and pretty cheap.
