if they sound dead, are rusty or hard to keep in tune it's time to change them.

can be about a month maybe two. depends on use and where u store the guitar.

I haven't changed mine since Boxing Day and they sound great.

I use D'Addario 9's and they last for 3-4 months at a lick without sounding dead.

if ur teacher is telling u they are dead, then they probably are. so just change them.

swap the strings one at a time if ur not sure how set up ur guitar.

My strings last about 2-3 months and I play about 5 hours most days. D'addario 9's. I guess I don't have corrosive fingers.

they might sound good to you, but if you compare them with a new set, the difference noticable.
All you need in this life is ignorance and confidence, and then success is sure.

Sorry if this sounds stupid but i've been playing for quite a few years and the only time i've changed strings was due to them being broken. My guitar teacher never mentioned anything about changing strings due to sounding "dead".Will there really be a differance in sound if I change my strings? most of them are about 2 years old except some that i broke.
