Actually Dazed and Confused will be hard in the guitar solo part for a beginner.

Except from what everyone already suggested i'll suggest some obvious ones:
Another One Bites The Dust - Queen
Come Together - The Beatles
Space Truckin' - Deep Purple
Cocaine - Eric Clapton
Sunshine of your love, Politician, White Room, Tales of brave ulysees - Cream

I am shocked that there has been 20 replies and not one person mentioned the Beatles... Paul McCartney's bass work is superb! His playing is extremely melodic... check songs like Penny Lane, Rain, Taxman, Something, Come Together, Lady Madonna, etc.

Umm, I think I mentioned "She so heavy...". Actually, Lovely Rita, while not one my favorite Beatle songs, has a cool and fun bass line and I would recommend it as well.

Ok, lets get it straight

Beatles = good band
Paul Mccartney - not a good bassist.

He is a goos songwriter, and a good vocalist, but not a good bassist.

And by the way i've mentioned Come Together and i beliveve Anarkee mentioned She's So Heavy

I have to put my opinion in here about McCartney...

He's a very good bassist. And She's so Heavy is most likely not a good choice for a beginner.

One of the first songs I learned was Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd.
