i still find it easier just to use a 7 string, its really bad on the your strings to tune down that low and then eventually tune back up

Use different string gauges, and keep them permanantly down-tuned. Of course, that only works if you only wanna stay that far down, or if you have more than one guitar...

but it still depends on your necks durability, my friend did that but his neck wasnt strong enough and it cracked the bottom of the neck on the front from the 19th-22nd fret
