K well i was just listening to some rhcp, specifically On mercury, and this is one of my favorite rhcp songs but i just cant understand what thier talking about, or if thier talking about anything-

"memories of everything, of lemon trees on mercury
and come to me with remedies of 5 or 6 of 7 seas"

i mean even listening to the rest of the song i just cant make sense of it, i guess i might just be stupid, but anyway great song
I got bored of my old sig

A lot of The Mars Volta lyrics are just completely confusing. They're still really good though, my friend is still trying to get me into them. We'll see...

I think Anthony, and John on his solo work, really just play with words. there are some chili's songs that actually have meaning "Under the Bridge" and "I Could Have Lied" but for the most part I think they're just having fun. "On Mercury" is a perfect exmpale one of John's solo songs is called "Regret" the first line is "I regret my past" and then he says "Stay alone" but John has said countless time's that he doesn't look at his past as a dark period because it made him who he is today and he also loves the company of others. See it's all in good fun.

What cd is that John Frusciante song off of?

on mercury is one of my favourite RHCP songs also. i don't really get the verses of blitzkrieg bop when i come to think about it

EDIT: Metal Militia, Californication is all about the fake and plastic side to California i do believe, i haven't listened to it in a long time but i think that's what i got from the lyrics

sometimes its now what the lyrics say, its the sound they make. Take a look at some nirvana lyrics, some of them are just nonsensical, nearly idiosyncratic, words, but they evoke an emotion.

Good ol' MacArthur Park...

And I'll never have that recipe again"

Though not really confusing, any Primus song ever makes me go "...huh..."

"Bob"
I had a friend that took a belt, took a belt and hung himself
Hung himself in the doorway of the apartment where he lived
His woman and his little bro came home from the grocery store
Only to find him dangling in the apartment where he lived

I had a friend who shaved his head
Put his Doctor Martins on
And drew such wondrous pictures in the apartment where he lived
He praised my creativity, though he spoke sarcastically
Oh, the conversations in the apartment where he lived

I had a friend that took a belt, took a belt and hung himself
Hung himself in the doorway of the apartment where he lived
Rock, she thought him spiteful; Ler, he thought him pitiful
Me, I've never been back to the apartment where he lived

Confusing? No, but definately...odd

EDIT: Riddler, that song is by the same guy that played Dumbledore, isn't it? I had a girlfriend once who swore up and down that it was. If so... that makes it even more awesome and "huh" worthy

I think some of Johns lyrics are incredible. For example, The Will to Death. They're not massively complex (see Tool) but they really get to me.

um a lot of yeah yeah yeahs songs are like huh??
the ones that make sense are great....i wish theyd make sense more often
gold lion for example
Gold lion's gonna tell me where the light is,
Gold lion's gonna tell me where the light is,
Take our hands out of control,
Take our hands out of control

Now, tell me what you saw,
Tell me what you saw,
There was a crowd of seeds,
Inside, outside,
I must have done a dozen each

It was the height I threw, the weight,
The shell was crushing you,
I've been around a few

Tell me what you saw,
I'll tell you what to...
Ooh ooh, ooh ooh, ooh ooh, ohh ohh
Ooh ooh, ooh ooh, ooh ooh, ohh ohh

Gold lion's gonna tell me where the light is,
Gold lion's gonna tell me where the light is,
Take our hands out of control,
Take our hands out of control

Outside, Inside,
This is the moon without a tide,
We'll build a fire in your eyes,
We'll build a fire when the cover's getting brighter,
Cold desire makes the moon without a tide

Tell me what you saw,
I'll tell you what to...
Ooh ooh, ooh ooh, ooh ooh, ohh ohh
Ooh ooh, ooh ooh, ooh ooh, ohh ohh

Ooh ooh, ooh ooh, ooh ooh, ohh ohh
Ooh ooh, ooh ooh, ooh ooh, ohh ohh

Lots of lyrics are random because they mean something special or specific to the writer of the song, at least that's what I think.

For me I don't get a few RHCP or a few Smashing Pumpkins songs but I like it that way.

That's from Wet Sand. The "love affair with everywhere" is about him going to places and screwing everything. However, he see's it as 'innocent' (couldn't think of a more useful word), and that what he did shouldn't matter to anyone.
