I know there have been some Photoshop threads from way back, I'm sure, but the only recent ones have been questions and whatnot.

So I decided to make a thread showing off your skills, or lack thereof.

I just recently got into Photoshop. This guy at school teaching me some cool stuff, and I've been doing some tutorials.

Here are my first REAL pieces that didn't involve me doing the whole thing with nothing but filters, and actually using brushes and patterns.

Stars of the Welkins

"Cosmic Explosion 1"

I'm expecially proud of "Stars of the Welkins". It was from the Greg Martin tutorial, and it's just awesome. Greg Martin is one of my biggest insirations.

"Cosmic Explosion" didn't come out quite like I wanted, but it's a start.

Post away.

I've done some manipulating on some of my photos in GIMP lately.

Nothing special. I really want to get photoshop and learn it, though.

EDIT: I just uploaded my series of "Clouds of snow that look like freaky space nebulas and stuff but are actually clouds of snow" pictures to Flickr.
Here are a few samples:

They come in every colour imaginable! Hooray!

You can see more of the same, and bigger versions of the ones above on my Flickr page.

BTW, 3Dbuzz.com has 8 great photoshop learning videos....you have to register for the site but they dont spam you with email or anything like that.

Here's a few of mine, mostly for myspace but I'm starting to learn more on it and making more with the program.

For my electric four class I had to make a cover sheet for the binder and did this last night:

Also my first photoshop trial:

I have to do photoshop-like things in my Graphic Arts class (just annoying ads and such). And from what I've seen photoshop is just a fancier version of paint...how they hell are all you doing this stuff?!

But I feel like doing something with paint now...

I just Googled tutorials for Photoshop.

I looked for Greg Martin tutorials, and space tutorials. Those came up.

This is when I wished UG had picture sigs, like limiting the size to around 400x120 or something.

Because I could make some AWESOME sigs in Photoshop.

I'm noob-ish really, though. I've only been using it for a week now. Seriously, I just kinda picked it up.

And I wanna know how to make some of the more generic stuuf, like signs and shit. I could make band poster.

lol damn, i didnt even notice at first

you did a good job with the shadows

Once you figure out how to do it, it is really easy.

Just get a tripod a camera and some people. Take a picture of the people and don't move the camera. Have the people move and then take another picture. Then put both pictures on the different layers in photoshop, and cut out the part that is overlapping the people on the lower layer.

For a small grade I spent A LOT of time making a CoB concert poster and it turned out amazing. Then about 2 weeks later was the midterm and it wasn't half as good as my CoB one. But yeah that's about all I can do on it.

And Dorkus inspiring LOST episode last week. lol.

Well, this thread has inspired me to finally pirate photoshop.

And fallenangel, work on getting some planets in your pictures, if you only ever do stars, you'll never get any better.

Yea, that's my next task.

I tried earlier, and I screwed it up, so I'm trying again tomorrow at school, then again more when I get home.

Those 3 star fields I have are my first 3 anyway. I've got a LONG way to go to get better.

After planets, I'm going to get better at my brush skills so I can add those little wispy nebulas as such in the pics.

a photoshop like software is paint.net at www.paint.net

the difference between MS paint and PH or paint.net is that you can do layers with these better progams with different effects and such on each layer...think of it like an overhead projector and each layer is a piece of clear plastic paper adding to the top.

really useful.

What would be the easiest way to go about making a small planet, copying the said planet onto a large (in this case, a 1024x768 wallpaper I'm making) and still adding atmosphere without messing up the star field?

Do I just make a new layer on top of the star field and basically just take the same steps as they go, using the new layer as the new background, or something different?
