well i'm trying to get my future rig out of the way, and ive got some questions about pedals.

1. what is a good delay (around $110) that ISNT Boss or Digitech (if you can)

2. What are your guys thoughts on the fender PT-100 tuner? anyone with reliability issues?

3. any dirt on the MXR Distortion III? (i know its coming in April)

4. do any of you have any problems with the MXR 6-band eq?

i need some of your opinions. here is my pedal board. (PS: about the boost... i figured if i put my TS808 at the beginning of the chain, i can use it for a treble boost. tone all the way up, OD at 1 and level at 4)

TS808 - Metal Muff - Big Muff - Dunlop Crybaby

would i really need the distortion III? would it really do anything this cant? i still cant get that rock tone, but would this acheive it any better than the metal muff or the big muff + crybaby? is there a better pedal that would acheive modern rock (not heavy modern, ie MCR) out there for the same price ($80)?

the way i hope the pedal board would turn out is

MXR 6BEQ - TS808 - Metal Muff - Dist. III - Big Muff - Crybaby - "Delay" - "Tuner"

My amp is a Fender Blues Jr. , im saving for a Avatar G212H Cab, with Vintage 30's and i have 3 guitars. a Fender MIM SSS strat, an Ibanez AXS32 and a Squier '51. my influences are Iron Maiden, AC/DC, MCR, Pantera, Judas Priest, Wolfmother, Megadeth, Metallica, Poison (and other blues metal) and Trivium.

thanks guys!

the best delay for your budget would be the boss DD-3
there's pretty much nothing else (in that price range)

why's that?

imo, it's either the DD-3 or EHX memoryman...but that's a little over your budget

memory man is WAY over.

i had a MT-2 and it broke in 2 days.

ive played the acoustic simulator, and the DS-1 and DS-2, and they were all pretty bad. (although i rather enjoyed the DS-1)
#6
^^ yeah only by about $200

EDIT: so pretty much you've tried 4 boss pedals so you hate the brand
btw the mt-2 sucks and i think acoustic simulators suck

but at least go and try the dd-3 because its probably gonna be the best you can afford

maybe watch for a used line 6 dl-4 on ebay
gear:
fender mim telecaster w/ some extra stuff
Vox Ad50vt
Vox V847 Wah
Boss OS-2
Keeley Boss DS-1 Ultra
Electro-Harmonix Big Muff Pi USA
MXR Phase 90
Boss CH-1

the spider II and the uber metal pretty much ruined Line6 for me.

and yes i hate boss becuase of that.

i will try the DD-3 though.

what about the DigiTech DigiDelay?

and can someone help on some of the other Q's?

would the DS-1 be close to the Dist III?

help?!
#8
the digitech delay...
well it has pretty good features and a nice price but i heard it has huge reliability issues
so..
i'd stay away from it

seriously...go for the boss..for your budget its the best

^Yeah, when you're buying any X-series shit, make sure you go with a store that has a good return policy. Lot of lemons. But when you get a good one, they're nice.
#10
I have the digidelay and I love it, if you find a good store to buy it at I would deffinitely go with it. When I tried the boss dd-3 there was no comparison, the digitech is way better imo.

#12

^I'd get that modded, to smooth it out and add some more quality to the sound. There are some inexpensive mods out there for it, so shop around.

do you know of any "classic rock with a modern feel" pedals?

i like the Big Muff, but its set to ac/dc settings, and i would like a footswitchable CRWAMF pedal. (i have to hit the wah and muff and the same time. which i dont. i just leave it on).

^How much are you willing to spend?

it depends on what i get for my b-day.

im saving straight to my b-day, then ill get my cab with the worked money.

ill get $50 from relatives and maybe $150 from my parents.

so i could get one $200 pedal, or a bunch of $60.

the reason im not gonna spend above that limit on delay is because i dont feel i need all the features of something like the DD-6.

(so id say around $140-160 ish.

^I'd score a Tone Bone Hot British off Ebay. Keeley Rat or Keeley Ds-1.

cant go ebay. my parents wont let me.

ill take a look at the keelys.

(i might just get a RAT. how are the RAT's?)

would they be good for CRWAMF?
#19
I like Rats, turn any little any little clean amp into a roaring British monster. I'd really urge to try and stretch your budget if you can for the Hot British, at the very least try one out in a shop. They are really nice pedals.
#20
CRWAMF
thats a great invention

you should pm woodenbandman for questions about the rat
he's the only one i know that has one

but keeley would be great

well the CRWAMF is my bands style. ac/dc mixed with some metal and modern rock.

anyway.

i AM looking for british, but im afraid the ToneBone is just to high priced, and im too afraid id break the tube.

what rat would you recommend?
#22
^You really can't go wrong with any Rat IMO. I prefer the vintage ones, but modded new ones are awesome too.
#23
analogman is cheaper than keeley and a whole lot better. and for that classic pedal with a modern feel, get the DOD 250.

and the line 6 echo park is a great delay, but a bit pricey.

Cheap amps are "that bad". They suck up your tone like cocaine at Kate Moss' party.

I am Michael!

Do not buy the boss delay...gross...i'd say if you could possibly bring yourself to save a little more money buy a visual sound liquid echo unit
Ask me no questions, i will tell you no lies...
#27
well that analog man is OD, and thats really not what im looking for.

i still really like the Rat's... if i get that i can get my tuner and EQ along with my birthday, with my new cab im working on.

does anyone know of any more of these pedals? (CRWAMF)

okay, instead of delay im thinking compression.

id say around 80-90 bucks'll do.

any ideas?

ill probably use it on light overdrive to really mellow out and lengthen the sound.
