Can someone recommend me a good site to buy these kits (All-tube) from? I've found a couple but they have a very few amount to select from. I was thinking of building a JCM 800 2204 head and selling mine to profit $500 or so, to go towards a new guitar, and i could have fun doin it. Thanks, and they got to ship to Canada.

If you've never built an amp before, I wouldn't suggest doing a JCM800 first. They're not simple amps. Build an 18-watt lite IIB or champ before jumping into a complex build.

^^ Ya they do have a nice selection, but they seem to only make 50's and 60's kits, which isn't really my style. If you could correct me, please do so.

I believe the consensus is that they're pretty good kits, just upgrade most of the components with non crappy Chinese ones. I haven't built one, but that's pretty much the deal with any kit, if you want a nice amp.

Oooh...Ceriatone has a JTM 45. I'm so going Angus Young. *makes mental note to make one in the future*

I've yet to hear any issues with them. Check the shipping chart though, it can be expensive.

Also, if you truly have never built an amp before, be prepared to be in over your head. This isn't as simple as knowing which component goes where. You really need to know how to solder and properly apply lead dress. It can also be tedious and frustrating. I found it exceptionally annoying bending over 100 leads to right angles.

If you do end up going to ceriatone, they pre-assemble their boards. You need to contact Nik (the owner) if you want to do it all yourself.
