in purple haze by jimi hendrix, wat the hell are the effects that he uses in the solo. DONT post anything about buying the jimi hendrix experience because when the song was made there werent even the many pedals, its all in the amp effects.

At that Time Jimi got together with Roger Mayer, who developed electronic effects that were beyond what was available in the marketplace (but still primitive to today's standard). In this case Jimi doubled the lead guitar, and one of the two tracks was channels through an early 'Octavia'. ;-)

Yeah the effects were reverb (a lot of it) distortion (fuzz face to be more precise), and a an octave up harmony.
