Hey everyone. Alright here's the deal. I have a pretty good alto sax player in my ska band. Now its not strictly ska. It's got jazz and funk influences also. That's why we make due with only a sax. Now I was looking at the Streetlight Manifesto/Catch 22 (Tomas Kalnoky is my god incase you missed it) style horn sections and I was wondering if there's a certain theory behind these pieces. Especially Streetlight. Their horn parts have this sort of spanish feel in some songs, and even sometimes a Russian feel in If and When We Rise Again. Anyone have any backround or info on this? Thanks everyone.

P.S.: Transposing everything for alto sax is a nice little twist when writing and harmonizing haha. If you've never done it before, jam with a transposed instrument. It's a lot of fun.
