I have never been able to get to sleep very well. Once I am asleep I usually sleep pretty well, but it often takes me a few hours to get to sleep.

Anyway, recently I decided that because I was tired basically any day and only got around 7 hours sleep maximum every night, I needed to do something about it and get more sleep.

A few nights ago, I was pretty tired, so I went to bed and was asleep by 8:30. I can obviously not go to sleep this early every night, but I was hoping to catch up on a bit of sleep.
The problem was that I woke up 2 hours later at 10. I couldn't get back to sleep until about 1, and ended up getting not much more sleep that usual.

Last night, I was once again asleep bu 8:30. I slept solidly until 1, when I woke up. It took me along time to get back to sleep, and even when I did, it was I kept waking up, and It certainly didn't make me a whole lot less tired. I probably should have gotten up, had a drink, gone to the toilet and composed myself, but I didn't think to.

If I keep going to bed early (around 9:30-10) and fall asleep quickly, will me body eventually adapt into this pattern and sleep all night until around 7?

Help/ideas would be appreciated.

I have the same problem. I can't fall asleep before 1, and I always wake up instinctively around 6 or 7 in the morning (regardless of when I went to bed). It sucks.

Meh. I would prefer ask the Pit.

I will probably ask my doctor next time I go for whatever reason though.

Even though I quit doing it, it still turns me on when I see money.

Rummage around for some 150 Mg Trazadone pill bars. Take a good 1 or 2 about a half hour before you want to sleep, and you should be good. Some advice is to either keep some headache medicine around (preferrably Tylenol 3s), and/or don't wake up to an alarm, because there's a good chance you'll wake up with quite the head splitter.

When drunk, everyone has some options:

1. Barf.
2. Pass out.
3. Get on UG.

Edit: Also, did you call me a noob?

I have a lot of the same problems. I can't go to bed unless I'm tired. Cept unlike you, if I tried to go to bed at 9 or something, I would end up flailing around restlessly until like 3 in the morning. So I'll watch t.v. or read a book until about midnight or one and fall sound asleep. I refuse to take any form of drugs just for sleep, I don't believe in it.

I had the same problem. Be sure not to eat 4 hours before you go to bed. If you constantly wake up and look at your clock, turn it around or something so you can't see it but can still turn it back around in the morning to see when you do have to get up. Some meds can make you not sleep. I was on many different anti-biotics for acne for 4 or 5 years (1 at a time) and was having trouble sleeping. They aren't supposed effect a person that way but i guess I had just been on them for so long it kind of screwed me up. I went off of them completely and in a week or two I was sleeping better. Also try exercising and if you take naps during the day stop.

Melatonin taken for a week or so (1mg - 3mg depending on how bad your schedule is) around 9-10pm should help fix your circadian rhythm if thats what the problem is derived from.

I have the same problem as you. Kava Kava, Valerian Root, 5-HTP, Passionflower, these are all good natural sleeping aids with few to no side effects. You'd have to look around the net for more info though, check erowid or google my username and that should get you started (should be obvious what site to go to with the username search).

Another thing to consider is seeing a specialist, something I'll admit I haven't done, but it could be useful. Exercise, a change in diet, using less artificial lighting, meditation / yoga / breathing strategies, etc. There are many things that could affect your sleep patterns. All of the things listed above, pharmacologic or otherwise, should prove to be of some use in helping ameliorate the situation. If none of the above works then as a last resort you could try and get a prescription medication, but that most likely wouldn't be worth it as its not a long-term solution and the side effects are too numerous. Too bad GHB isn't legal as an insomnia cure....

Bajeda's sleeping preference -----> Kava Kava (Piper Methysticum), accompanied by 5-HTP if need an extra boost.
