I'm making a body closely resembling a mix of a PRS solid body electric and a Les Paul solid body electric. Without cutting "levels" with a router, or using a chisel, how can I figure the arched body?

I thought I could use a heavy file to bring down the edges some, then use a power drill/very course circular sanding bit, and sand out the body. It's very difficult to get a mental picture, I know. haha.

original body blocks edge.
______________
.........................| <---
.........................| <--- about 2"
______________| <---

...After the filing. (the angle wouldn't be that dramatic though.)
___________
....................\ <--- about 3/4"
......................\ <---
_____________| <--- about 1 1/4"

And then work out the arch a bit with that drill/sanding idea.

Do you think this would work? Or is there a hell of a lot easier way that I'm over looking?

*Sorry for the bad diagrams. haha.

thanks guys.
