ok, i just got a new computer for christmas. and everything was working excellently before. still is. except one minor problem.

when i am watching a dvd on my computer, it will start to stutter, and then continue playing. my computer has a 250GB harddrive, dual core processors. 1024 MB of memory.

i really dont know much, but i was hoping that there was a computer buff on here somewhere. can someone give me some clues to why my computer starts to stutter while im watching dvds?

(i dont have very many programs on my computer: printer, internet, and 1 video game, 2500 mb's., and obviously some small stuff, like music, itunes.)

Just had a mental image of some James bond like character stuttering Repeatedly whilst getting the girl.

Chances are your pc either: Has a bad playign system

A virus.

Try Realplayer, should be alright.

what operating system are you using?? if it's vista i recomend reading up on their new DRM policy and switching to linux pronto. If not i'm not sure what the problem is; bad dvd drive?

Try Ctrl Alt Del ing and closing down some programs that are running in the background. Virus and spyware checks. Oh and Microsoft was designed by Beelzebub himself, so you will always have some form of problem with any Windows operating system. Always.

Playing a DVD is not a difficult task for hardware unless you're running at 1080p.

Oh, and it's not a virus. Seems like a waste of time coding some malicious software that stutters DVDs

- try different players

- the dvd may be scratched or dirty

- the dvd-rom may not be working properly
Dear God, do you actually answer prayers?

Yes, but only in a way indistinguishable from random luck or the result of your own efforts.

Your DVD is definetly scratch or a smudged finger print. Go to R/S and get a DVD cleaner or restorer and try again. I hate when that happens while watching the pornos.

Maybe bad codecs? Maybe you should reinstall your all video software so it can be configured propertly this time? Hell maybe just data cable (cable connecting your cd/dvd drive t omain board) is cuted somwhere and you should replace it. Maybe, maybe, maybe... To few details to give you any good advice....
Of course we can speculate what's wrong with your computer till the end of the world, but that's not what you want us to, right? Give us more details or show your PC someone who's there.

im running windows xp. and i dont think that its a scratched dvd. most of the dvds i put in are brand new!! for example. i just recently got the "Coheed & Cambria: The Last Supper". i immediately opened it up and put it in, and it started to stutter. maybe it is the program im using. i tried the windows media center, then the windows media player. i will try something else to see if that helps. thanks guys.

(and im not really able to give you anymore details about my pc. the details i gave you already, i got off the front of the pc!! and i dont really know much else...)
