Before anyone gets uppity - yes i did use the search function, and couldn't find anything practical So if you've had a bad day, or a rough day or anything of the sort, and you sit down and pick up your guitar, then realize you don't really want to play anything angry, you just really need to relax and play something mellow (bad run on sentence i know, for all you grammar hounds out there) what do you play? Even if it is a little out of characteristic in regards to your main influences. Personally? My favourites are
Standing outside the fire
Slide
Lips of an angel
banana pancakes
you're beautiful, and
stairway to heaven

everyone else?

Smile alot today... okay?

I like playing Haze by Dishwalla on bass. It's a nice line.
The will to neither strive nor cry,
The power to feel with others give.
Calm, calm me more; nor let me die
Before I have begun to live.

-Matthew Arnold

Arguments are to be avoided; they are always vulgar and often convincing.

Opeth - Credence, When, Face Of Melinda, In my time of need..
Death - Voice of the soul
I put a dollar in a change machine. Nothing changed.

Woah deja vu (actual deja vu, im not mocking you...i got deja vu of saying that too! haha)

High - feeder

Upside down - Jack johnson

1979 - Smashing Pumpkins

And after reading your thread properly, no surprises by Radiohead would probably be the main one for me after a bad day.

Te Busco - Celia Cruz

And on piano, To Zanarkand from final fantasy 10
A Seven Nation army couldn't hold me back.

im not saying anything about it but i just pray that you know the amount of flaming you will get if people realize you have a hinder song.
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools
#13
Oh thats ok, i know hinder is overplayed, but i find its good to mellow out to, especially if your having woman problems (Better saved for a different thread in a different forum ) Plus, flaming doesn't bug me, not like anyone on UG actually knows who i am, or my real tastes etc and so on and so forth, so i don't really think too much of it, plus, its really easy to just skip and move on

I hate deja vu's, they are making me feel awkardly weird and confused..
I put a dollar in a change machine. Nothing changed.

I ussually don't play anything by anyone anymore unless I just want to. For like the past half year I play whatever comes off the top of my head. But to mellow out I'll ussually play something that sound like Slash. (Distortion, neck pickup, and some wah)

I just pick up my acoustic and improv lyrics over a random chord progression. The lyrics usually turn out however I feel at the time, and I record everything I do just in case it turns out good.

some bob marley is great......after running through jammin' and misty morning i'm pretty chill (of course, you gotta sing while you play those...whether you can actually sing or not doesn't matter, it's still therapeutic)

also little wing and some mellow jams i've made up
#25
Any light finger picking type song, I like to play a Babe I'm Gonna Leave You medley from Zeppelin. Then there's Is There Anybody Out There? by Pink Floyd.

I also just play some of my own chords.

#30
I'll usually sit down on my keyboard if I need to chill and play some Beatles or classical, but for guitar I usually just make up songs to my favorite chord prgressions (G D Am Em ftw) on my 12 string.
