Me and my guitarist covered MOP on youtube.. sucks tho .

Anyway, I thought they were all great except Orion. It was the most sentimental song and all they had to do was turn up their volume and play with a lil more soul.

Yep, it was fucking awesome too. The songs by Mendeed and Funeral for a Friend were their takes on Metallica's songs, if you don't like them, it's your own fault.
I have my doubts that Nickelback could have pulled off any of the songs off that album, they are too different genre-wise.

Sadly, no, but neither does Trivium, and we know they can play them.

So, you can't assume until you know that they can't play them.

trivum does play the solos. they fully did MOP

But Trivium at least plays solos in their own songs - something Nickelback isn't very fond of doing.

Anyways, I've only heard Battery and Master of Puppets. I didn't like Battery because the drums and vocals were too overpowering (maybe I just heard a bad mp3?), and Master of Puppets was all right but it sounded - vocals aside - way too much like the original to be that exciting (though I guess the guitar tone was a little beefier).

Obviously, but not live, which is what I was saying.

At least they didn't play full songs the times I seen them.

they ditched that lead guitarist? he was pretty good, not everybody can throw a neo-classical tapping solo in a pop-punk song

Let me just review I own the CD but havn't heard it in like a month.

Battery = Great Vocals, Great Everything 10/10
Master of puppets = Enhanced solo. Even crazier. 10/10
The thing that should not be = Excellent chorus and solo 10/10
Welcome home (sanitarium) = Guitars sound, Matt's voice, and solo all a little weak 8/10
Disposable Heroes = Nice modern screamy feel to it. Instruments sound dead on 10/10
Leper Messiah = Good calm vocals, more advanced arpeggio solo 9/10
Orion = Sounds a bit muddy and guitars need more volume in interlude. 7/10
Damage Inc. = Great, The heaviest of the batch. Just like the real album. 10/10

Pfft.

The Mastodon cover of Orion is but a clunking of caveman clubs against wood in comparison to Rodrigo Y Gabriela's cover.

I tried to find the video on youtube but unfortunately the only two recordings are just a couple of minutes long and sound absolutely TERRIBLE. The sound quality is so bad it makes my ears want to kill themselves

It sucks 'cause this cover. song is sex to your ears.

You didn't look too well then, it's on their myspace here. You are correct to, that song does indeed pwn to the max.

I've streamed a bit of it off their website and myspace, and I'm thinking I'll definitely have to get my hands on it too.
