For some reason i have yet to know what are the advantages/disadvantages in a double neck guitar over a regular guitar.

Somebody please fill me in on this

1. One other blasted neck is in the way.

2. Able to play a wider range with the second neck. (12 strings?)

Advantages - Don't have to swap guitars mid song (depending on what double neck 6 string to 12 string, 6 string to bass...I've even seen 6 string to bazuki). This gives you more flexibility over what parts you can have in your songs

Disadvantages - Heavy, very heavy. Usually (but not always) a trade off between very expensive and badly made. But mainly just very heavy. Also awkward to hold...you won't be doing acrobatic stage moves with one of those.

Advantages:
- You can have two different tunings on the same guitar.
- Amounts of strings on each neck can vary.

Disadvantages:
- It's heavier than a normal guitar.
- Harder to move around with because it is larger.

Advantages:

- Increased range of tones. i.e. 6 and 12 string guitars.
- Ability to change from lead to backing guitar quickly without changing guitar like in Stairway to Heaven.

Disadvantages:

- You look a twat.
- They are heavy.
- They aren't as easy to play as seperate 6 and 12 string guitars.
- You look a twat.

Double necks like the SG I've seen have one 6 string neck, and one 12 sting neck. This would of course give you more options in songs. The dean double neck that I've seen Michealangelo Battio (spelling?) with have two 6 stringed necks, but he plays them both at the same time, one hand on each neck. The disadvantages would be that if you didn't really need two necks it would just be in the way, and they're extra heavy.

Advantage: 2 guitars in one

Disadvantage: More strings to change (meaning more money on strings)

Have you checked out on some of the reviews? And which one are you thinking about getting, the eds-1275 (Jimmy Page style) or something else?

And they're always more expensive than a decent normal guitar.
