Ive been playing guitar for fuc king over two years, I work my ****ing ass off at it, I put in fuc king time.

A couple weeks ago, my little roland cube 15 broke, the input jack completely fell out, which I didnt get too upset over because It can be repaired, but two days ago was my 16th birthday, and normally I get about 100 bucks from my parents, one time even 200, now im not complaining I know they are being generous because honestly, I dont do a lot.

So anyways, I love guitar, and Im pretty stuck with a squire rip off (its pretty nice though, better neck than most squires) and a roland cube 15 (currently broken). So anyways Im starting up a band and what not, and that little 15 watter wont really cut it for anything once it gets loud the sound degenerates and it cant be plugged into a PA. So ive been saving for a long ass time, wasnt able to get a job, and my parents make me buy everything myself (including clothes). So anyways my parents gave me 50 bucks for my birthday, and that left me with 275 dollars, I like the cube sound so I decided to get the 60 watt version. So we looked online and I found a warehouse resale for 309 dollars, so I negotiated with them and they agreed theyd order it for me because it was the only one left but Id have to pay them back the 34 dollars.

So ok, I came home yesterday and it was on the doorstep, so I brought it inside. I talked to my parents about a way I could earn the money by doing various stuff around the house, my dad wants to pay me 7 an hour to clean the bathrooms completely, and then fix our fence, and clean out the gutters, crap like that. Ok yeah fine with me. If you are a guitarist who works hard and doesnt have money for equipment, youd know how tempting it is to open and use that amp, but I didnt. I called up one of my best bros david, and asked the huge favor of barrowing 34 dollars so I could play with my amp, he had no problem with it since he gets a 40 dollar a week allownece. Anyways I told my dad id have his money today, So I could play my amp sooner but I still wanted to do work for money (gotta pay my bud back).

So this is all going just fuc king fine until I get home being so eager all day to come home and do one of my favorite things in the world, play guitar. Turns out, my dad being the asshole he is, takes the amp with him to work in his car. He KNEW I was going to have the money. I havent had respect for my dad in years. Hes hypocritical, alchaholic, old fashioned (man of the house crap), and he got fu cking arrested last month for throwing me on the ground and punching me in the head. DCF put a protective order on him, and he wasnt able to come into the house until after the court hearing (IF they dropped the case (they did) ), so anyways Im just fu cking pissed, ive seen a psychologist and therapist because of all this sh it, and they started me on concerta (add meds) and around lunch I get very easily angered, and feel like fighting someone.

Thats it,

Im still fu cking pissed.

So you're pissed he took the amp to work with him... Why?

Because ive been dying to play it for a long time, since ive been saving so long for it. My dad wont be home for about 5 hours. Then when he gets home, he gets pissed if he can even hear me play it in the other room. Wonder why my mom doesnt care.

I know it sucks, but instead of wasting time and energy being all pissed off and bitching, why don't you grab the guitar and run scales or do chromatics or something? JUst cause you don't have an amp doesn't mean you can get better
#7
I agree with those two^^
I'm sorry to hear that about your dad though mate. No-one should hit their kids.
#9
the wait will make you aprecitate it more when you get it, look at it like that
#10
Oh well. Five hours isn't a big deal in the grand scheme of things. It could be much worse - he could've returned it on you, sold it, or somehow put you in a situation where you'd never play it.

Thats a little harsh, I often use the guitar to express and get rid of anxieties etc (queue emo joke).

He's angry because his Dad knew he would have the money to pay him back, but he still took it to work with him so he couldn't play it till he did. Just being an asshole tbh.

Enjoy it when you do get to play it, and I know what its like to have to work hard to get your equipment. Its taken me nearly a year to save up for my new amp.

I think it's important you know we all weally lubb you in a platonic kind of way.

Yeah, that sucks about your dad though. That kind of stuff shouldn't happen. Just play some scales or other stuff while you wait. Try not to think about it too much. Oh, and if your dad doesn't like to hear you play when he's home, I would recommend grabbing one of the adapters so you use headphones. Then you could play all night, and it's doubtful anyone would care too much. Maybe save up for a decent set of headphones too (those big ones that have covers that go all the way around your ears).

eh, im afraid the guitar amp is the elast of your worries, seems like you have more problems then that, if the drugs are making you violent, stop taking them, go to a pschycologist not a psyciatrst, that way you can really solve your own mental problems isntead of just hushing them up with drugs. sort ut your issues with your dad, but make sure you are safe, being angry at him isnt going to do anything, talk to child services or whatever equivalent you have of that, he needs to be sorted out beofr ethis gets too far, take action, not pshyical action, but action on your own problems, your won dealing with this, and a way of dealing with your father

Thanks everyone that replied.

Apparently im spoiled though, according to my parents and this DCF worker that keeps coming to check on the house.

I am in a safe enviorment. Im glad my dad got a taste of jail, apparently when he got taken down to the station (and this thought somehow makes me feel better) there were two other really big guys, and they shackled them all together, both drug dealers, one talking about how he had 3 pounds of marijuana at home he had to sell when they let him go, the other one was talking about how he was going to kill his girlfriend when he got out because she called the cops on him for stealing his friends car. Now according to what my mom tells me he told her is one of them asked if he was gonna eat his food (they gave them lunch), and he said no because he "wasnt hungry", personally I like to think he stole it from him and he was too much of a bitch to do anything.

Somehow that consoles me
#21
that shouldnt console ytou, he is still your father, and still a person, you should be trying to help him, not getting spiteful about it, if he hurt you, whats the point in hurting him back? do want to stay like that, kep on hurting each other, or do you want to try pout that behind you, help him out and have a good relationship with him? step outside the boix and have a look at how your dealing with this man, then se which is the better solutiong

Man you have some crappy luck. I definatly know what you mean about saving up for equipment is hard. My parents are into that "well if you want it buy it yourself" crap too. And my little 15 watt amp is crap and so is my Austin starter guitar. I don't even get an allowence. i have no job. No job coming in the future, so i am screwed too.
#23
I think I've bought every piece of guitar gear I own myself, except for my Squier and my dad's acoustic which I use. It makes me value what I've got a bit more, I think. I'm basically like Bubbles in terms of cash flow. Except I've got more stuff.

Some actions are unfogivable, and father or not, there are things that are inexcusable.

Dude, it's five hours :-/

Sadly I am still stuck with a Roland Cube 15 and a sh*tty no-name guitar...

Just wait the 5 hours, if you love playing guitar so much dont waste your time making these threads and play the damn thing. Also i would liek to ask what the point of making this thread? I know how it feels when you have to wait for something you really want and it can be difficult, but it will just mean that when you do get it, it'll be twice as nice.

you sound like a spoilt wee fuc k, so what if your dad took it too work and you make out that your being good not complaining that your grandparents only gave you 100 bucks for your birthday dont be a prick theyre on their pension you little twat im happy if they give me 10 pounds and am very grateful at that, also stop trying to make out you the man having no respect for your father hes paying you 7 dollars an hour to clean the bathroom for fuc ks sake hes practically giving you the money and now you come on here bad mouthing him, if i was him i would have givin you more than a fu ckin punch in the head

Think about it this way, don't know if you like em, but Guns N' Roses built their career (well Axl, for the most part) on their past demons. Axl used his music to let it out, and the result was so genuine and unique that they were like the No.1 band for 5 years.

Focus on music, you're angry, other people are angry, now you just gotta make them get your point and you got your fans.
