I'ver heard it been done be a few pro's and a few people here on UG. You basically put it through the bridge backwards...essentially, they're supposed to have more sustain?

Is that really true?

so the bead thingy is at the tuners?
cos some people do that with FRs so you dont have to cutt them off

Oh no.

It's something that Zakk Wylde does with his strings...it's not the what you do with FR's though.

so you put it in so you thread it towards the butt of your guitar, then fold it over or something, so it goes over the tail piece (on a tuneomatic)

Ive done it i didnt notice much of a difference in anything just more of a pain in the ass to put the strings on IMO

its where you string up on a tune-o-matic style brige but instead of having the strings come under the tailpiece you have them going over the tailpiece and then string up as normal after that part.

it wont give more sustain at all cos the string tension is lessened this way (well certainly not improved!).

all it does is reduce the angle the string reaches the bridge at so theres less chance of string breakage.

stupid imo.

You can see it here on my guitar.

Supposedly it does improve sustain a bit, and it definitely makes bending easier, as well as help avoid string breakage.
Additionally, it makes it much easier to do that pick rake effect behind the bridge, you have more area to work with.

ok cool !

Pleiadian is very much right but can you say how it would increase sustain??
cos from what logic is tellin me since the string tension is lower there will be less pressure for contact with the bridge and hence the string will move on the saddles more. again this is very anal stuff and it makes very little difference but i just dont understand how it could give more sustain than regular?

I said supposedly man, meaning I didn't notice it myself but many other people claim they did.
