Hey everyone, Im looking for a guitar and have about £1500 (English) to spend. Thats about $2800 (US) I think.

Must Have -
Nice neck (like a strat)
A comfy body to sit with (have an rr3 and I hate using it)
Great tonal range -Ac/Dc, Hendrix, White lion, VH, Led Zep, Slash's Snakepit/ Gnr, Maiden, Dragonforce, Clapton, Malmsteen, and some Pink Floyd
Good Looks

Im currently running a Peavey Bandit 112, so I will buy a new amp if i need to, but that has to come out of the above budget. I also have no pedals, so if i could do with pedals to make the sounds like distortion/ wah then please go ahead and tell me.

Thanks everyone -

PS - Im willing to spend half of the money on guitar and half on effects/ amp, but i dont like having lots of pedals and switches.

You should definitely go to www.carvinworld.com, pick out your favorite body type, and customize it to your own specifications.

EDIT: That's the international website, and it seems to be a bit wonky. You can also try out www.carvin.com...

Marshall DSL401 or Laney VC30 212, and an Ibanez RG3270M is pretty much £1500 dead on

http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/vc30-212/378
or
http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/marshall-dsl401/283

http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/ibanez-rg-3270m-j/11245

or a few cheaper guitars if you want some left over for a wah and overdrive pedal

http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/66783
http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/71829

They're all based on the assumption that you'd want a trem...if you don't want one then go for an Epiphone Elitist or the Joe Perry sig which is the dogs or maybe a PRS.

They're all pretty shit-hot guitars, if you want whammy squeals then the Ibanez trems are good as any...they're all models with the Edge Pro so you don't heve to worry about it crapping out on you. If you go for a guitar under a grand you can buy an amp and pedals or a bigger amp!

Where did you find a $200 Les Paul on ebay? I'm assuming you're talking about a Gibson and not an Epiphone since you mentioned that pricey amp directly afterwards....

I'm not sure if I'd recommend the Dual Recto for much of what he wants to play...

Maybe a Mark IV, but since he's on that side of the pond I'd probably suggest some Laneys or ENGLs depending...

...and Carvins smoke Gibsons in quality control.

i agree with the Fat strat, but i dont agree with twin reverb.

you should mabe look into Maverick guitars. dont go to the site cos its about 3 years out of date. they have a decent range, are amasing to play, have good stock pups and are reasonably cheep. the F-1s go for about £500. but i reckon the F-3(h-s-h) or the F-4(h-s-s) would be right up your street. the F-4 has a more strat style neck. whereas the F-3 has a much faster neck.
they have also brought out a les paul lookalike but i dont know much about them.

maybe look for a used JCM 900 on ebay as they will do everything you want if you get a good booster pedal for it. such as a tube screamer. but tbh i reckon your bandit will be good enough for now.
