How much can you spend?
It's a fine line between clever and stupid.

Hah, his house is big so his parents are buying it. Obviously money is no object.

Aside from my jealousy, go get a Dual/Triple rectifier.

If your budget isn't as huge as I expect, perhaps only within the solid state range, forget it and get a smaller tube combo like a DSL. (Although that said, there can be exceptions. I played a SS Crate stack once and found it pretty sweet. The Laney TF head was pretty nice too...)

It's only gonna be worth getting a stack if you have the money for a top notch one. Otherwise, you'll probably find a much nicer combo for a similar price.

Why a half stack?
No one needs a half stack. Plus nicer on your parents ears and bank account if you get a combo. You can always add a cab later..

I prefer half stacks.

But yeah, go for a JCM2000 or a dual rectifier mesa.

half stacks give you more bass / low end.
plus if you get a 2x12 + head it's way easier to carry around.
