Some of you may have noticed I posted this in EG, which was a mistake, I meant to put it here :P

Basically, I want an EHX muff but i'm confused as to what to get. I'm looking for a fuzzy sound that can do Frusciante and Hendrix mainly. Vintage tone is what I was looking for.

USA Big Muff
Russian Big Muff
Little Big Muff
Nano Muff.

Which of these would be the best for me, do you think? The Nano Muff interested me most, as I'm a fan of simplicity and vintage tone and it claims to be a reissue, and it's competetively priced....

Anyone got experience with it or the other muffs who can make suggestions?

I'm looking for something that can handle Voodoo Child etc mainly but can also do stuff like Dani California.

well its supposed to be more "random" than the USA muff

to TS, try em both and get the one you want
in the end you're "stuck" with it

Yeah, obviously i'll try them.

I just read another thread and apparently the Little Big Muff has true bypass wheras the USA Big Muff doesn't? True bypass would be useful...

If you want (vintage-voiced) fuzz; look elsewhere. The Big Muff's sound more like distortion.

the russian muff sounds more "vintage" than the NYC made one, but they tend to be inconsistent, so try the exact model you buy and make sure it works if you get a russian one.

I've got a Russian one, it sounds just alright on it's own, but paired with my OD-3 it's pretty much perfect sounding.

If I was to get a Russian one and use it with my Bad Monkey, would it have the same effect?

Would that setup suit Hendrix and Frusciante?

^Not sure, but my OD3's used as a gain/volume booster, so it just happened to make the Muff sound great. Try both out first though, that's what I did (sort of)

It'd suit Frusciante, it'd work for Hendrix although he used a Fuzz Face, v different sounding.
