I'd love to hear your opinions on what are your favourite modern punk bands.

bad religion.

Bad Religion have been around since 1980.

I'm gonna define a new band as one that formed after 1990 and are still together.

Angel City Outcasts
The Anxieties
Blanks 77
Bombshell Rocks (a lot of their stuff is pop-punk)
Born To Lose
Brain Failure
Dillinger Four (again, more pop-punk)
Discipline
Dropkick Murphys (only their old stuff is good)
The Ergs (pop-punk)
Far From Finished
Floggy Molly
A Global Threat
The Hives (a lot of people don't think they're punk but they pretty much are)
Kings of Nuthin'
Last Call Brawl
The Lower Class Brats
No Hope For The Kids
The Repercussions (2002-2005 but you should look 'em up, they're really good)
Roger Miret & the Disasters
The Soviettes (broke up but they're good and really recent)
Street Dogs
The Suspicion
The Turbo A.C.'s
U.S. Bombs
The Unseen (only their older stuff is good)
Valient Thorr
The Virus

i heard street dogs suck, but ive never listened to them.

In my opinion, their 2 older cds (Savin Hill and Back to the World) are just ok, but their new cd (Fading American Dream) is just amazing.

Edit: ^^^The Virus are still together? I thought he started up Cheap Sex? I could be thinking of the wrong band though...

Anti-flag, The Unseen and Rise Against. Lower Class Brats are ok...None More Black but they broke up about 1 month ago, Thought Riot, Inquisition (i guess they count as modern :S) and Strike Anywhere...Meh, i'll get flamed for the first 3.

Are Thought Riot well known over there? Some of my friends absolutely love them. I saw em a few months back and I was pretty disappointed, although I think that they were having an off night. I don't really think of them as punk though.

Anti-Flag, Dropkick Murphys, Teenage Bottlerocket, Against Me! (like Anti-Flag, have become kind of un-punk, though), Rancid, Propaghandi...there are probably tons that I can't think of. Really there haven't been that many great modern punk bands. The best modern punk bands are local bands. Nothing like a good local show.

yeah modern punk sucks, its a joke. warped tour sucks too.
I love all forms of Rock 'n' Roll, past and NOT present

Yeah, I listened to a few Virus songs before and thought they were pretty good, I've been looking for one of their cds since. I heard Cheap Sex on a Loud Fast Rules cd and didn't see anything special about them though.

The Offspring

Green Day
Dropkick Murphys

Rancid are the best punk band ever.

Tim Armstrong is a songwriting genius, is a complete fashion diva and has an incredible singing voice.

He doesn't sound like Opie from family guy at all.

Life Crisis
RUSTBUKiT
Tommy and the Terrors
