ok well my friend wants to get a new guitar amp because well..his blows but yea whats a good amp for funk and stuff like the red hot chili peppers? the price range is from 400-600 dollars

yeah a fender, but i dont know if 400-600 will get you a decent size tube amp, it'll get you one, but how big do you need?

for that i'd actually look towards Marshall.... John frusciante uses 2 different Marshall heads.. a Major 200w and a Jubilee 25/50.... that is where the majority of his sound is coming from....
he's also using a fender silverface showman....
now for 400-600 go for a marshall AVT combo.. built in FX, Tube Preamp... true marshall tone

Bad idea on the AVT imo.

I suggest you try out the Fender Blues Jr, maybe throw in a Tubescreamer or something.

If the gigs are small enough 15 watts tube will do.
