A P-bass, I suppose.

But I'm pretty sure you don't listen to emo.

a precision and anything by my chemical romance or fall out boy

actually most emo basses mainly play the root note.
A recent study shows that 8% of teenagers listen to nothing but music with guitars in it. Put this in your sig if you're one of the 92% who aren't close-minded morons.

Find out what bass your favorite bassist plays, then get one similar to that. And find out your favorite song by your favorite "emo" group, and learn to play it.

+1 will be out soon

It's a Precision bass with Duncan Designed pickups and a maple fingerboard (not too common on Squiers).

I guess wait for the Pete Wentz signature. Though I've never really seen FOB as emo.

Basically any bass will work as emo is, for the most part, nothing but root notes. If you wanted to go cheap you could probably play emo with any beginner bass pack. It really doesn't matter.

Just buy any bass at all. Emo bass players don't put much though into their basslines, so all you really have to do is hit a couple of notes.
#28
Learn to play some Fugazi songs. Waiting Room has an excellent opening bass line and there are plenty more through out their 13 Songs album. Some other good emo bands to look for: Rights of Spring, Thursday, and Sunny Day Real Estate.

ps. never listen to anyone who tells you Fall Out Boy or MCR are emo, chances are they have no idea what they are talking about
#29
Kill yourself lolol

Really though...just get the Wentz signature (pukes) or a P-bass

I don't really understand why basses have 24 frets, I mean, I've never seen a bassist playing more than the 12 fret.

Fall Out Boy and MCR are not emo.
Listen to some Silverstein. You might like the bass on their song, "November". I think that's a good place to start. And a p-bass sounds fine, you won't need anything fancy.
#33
I dont mind some of the pop punky emo bands, i just hate the whole image or long, black straightened hair and skin tight clothes and chains. It seems retarded to me anyway look at some mim fender p basses, some squiers actually sound pretty decent like this one here

http://www.squierguitars.com/products/search.php?partno=0326800505

that would be a good bass and looks fairly similar to mikey way's bass (mcr) and for songs to learn, most of them are the same, i'd say headfirst for halo's is fun to play, so is helena, im not okay and house of wolves all by mcr. Also look at a band called rise against, i know they arent emo but they have some fast pop punk songs to play, look at the intro for like the angel, thats a cool and easy riff to play.
#35
I would say a P-Bass, the new squiers ones are nice basses

Sunny Day Real Estate FTW, anyway on topic: For both proper Emo and this pop-mo I'd reccomend the p-bass.
#37
I dont think you will need anything more then a Squier P Bass as an emo bassist.

And for easy emo songs, well (not trying to be rude) all of them.

Rolling Stone is proof of the old Frank Zappa quote:

"Rock journalism is people who can't write, interviewing people who can't talk, in order to provide articles for people who can't read."

Fugazi is emo.

And get yourself a P-Bass..
