Just bought a Fulltone Ultimate Octave/Fuzz pedal. Spent nearly $300 and im pretty disappointed with the result. I have a Fender Princeton 112 Plus. Sounds alright. Im a Satch fan and wanted to get his same set up and I am definately not getting the same sound out of it that he does. Considering returning it (only get store credit) and getting something else. Is it my amp thats limiting the pedal? Any advice would be great.

i think its the amp

how old is the princeton you have?

im thinking maybe his is modded....i was really excited to get the pedal cause i have a vid of satch fooling around with it and he got such a great sound out of it...im not getting anything close to it
#7
that could be the problem
i mean...he's probably playing through some high end tube amp
and with a princeton youre gonna have a hard time copying that sound

Aye, fulltone pedals aren't exactly the ones to use with solid state pedals, especially ones with modeling effects. They sound naturally better with tube amps.

i was trying to get a hendrixy sound...or even a stevie ray sound....just learned pride and joy and it sounds good but not the greatest....thought that pedal would give me that sound but it didnt....also considering a delay or a chorus

for a hendrixy sound...maybe a wah...the vox v847 is great
chorus and delay can be put together in the EHX deluxe memory man
but thats like $320
so..for a chorus: EHX small clone
delay: try the boss ones

that pedal aint for you man! They arent best suited to a SS amp.

Return it and get a TS808, should be better due to the SS amp!!
Or just get your money back and save for an actuall better amp that can naturally over drive!

Tubescreamer. Works better with a tube amp though

I even tried dressing up as a fly myself, and throwing myself out of the window in the hope that they will follow me. But to no avail.

lol

you guys act like there are pedals that sound marginally better on solid state amps. To be entirely honest, this isn't true.

A pedal is a pedal.

Getting a different pedal because one sounds like crap on a cheaper solid state amp is not going to make a difference. The problem is the amp, not the pedal.
#26
^that is completely true

but there are acceptable SS amps
like pignose...

but thats a different topic

im totally regretting buying this pedal now....everything else at the store is way overpriced and i will only get store credit after returning the Fulltone pedal
#29
that sucks...really

well if you want a good pedal..look into the ehx memory man...deluxe memory man to be exact...
has delay and chorus in one pedal
and its analog...

Ok #1 Satch uses a Peavey JSX TUBE amp. Unless you at least get a tube amp, using that pedal will get you nowhere near his tone.
#2 A tubescreamer will not be any better with a solid state amp - in fact it will probably sound just as crappy.
So the suggestion which a few people have already put forward - get a tube amp. And if you want Satch's tone preferably a JSX.
PM Me for any help you need with recording systems/tips

hence when i said save for a new amp... The fulltone is more suited to a tube and its so true!!

yeah....its a solid state

That's where the problem lies: fuzzes sound terrible on SS amps.
