I just despise English so god damn much.

I hate essays, I hate book reports, I hate speeches, I hate essays and I hate ENGLISH.

Now I got that over and done with.

What about your views and thoughts on the subject English at your school? lol

Edit: Actually I don't hate reading. I just hate it when there's limited time for reading a book.

Book reports are boring. Reading can be fun, if you are doing a class read. I remember I was the only one really into it, and I used to put on gay little voices.

Maths is the worst.

I like essays when on a good subject. I like to do book reports on good books. I like giving speeches when it's something I care about. And I like reading when it's a good book.

But, if it stuff like analyze poetry, I become infuriated.

I hate my English class for a bunch of reasons; and I adore language and poetry and writing. I don't get along with my teacher this semester, but my main problem is the focus and definition of the course; there isn't one. Most of the time we end up talking about sociology and history instead of English, and when we talk about English it's usually useless grammar points about which no one actually cares, because by the time you're in high school, usefully proper grammar is already completely intuitive. It's a frustrating and poorly designed course.

I love English. It wouldn't be necessary to have it all the way through school, though, if kids learned to pay attention. It blows my mind that kids make it all the way to college without knowing how to properly use commas and apostrophes, which they learn in second grade.

Dude. English is awesome. I'm really good with writing essays and stuff, not to mention my english teacher is a babe. The only think that really gets me is talking in front of the whole class; I can't stand that.

I love the English language. I love reading it. I love using it. As a class, though, I can see how it would be boring, but don't expect to get a decent job if you don't have good analytical ability - reading is a useless ability if you don't truly comprehend what the author of a passage or work was trying to convey.

I wouldn't mind English class so much if it wasn't for the fact that time seems to stop completely when I'm in it. Slowest ****ing class in the world.

And all those god damn words. Mocking me, laughing at me. But I'll get them. They can't steal my essence if I can't see them, can they?

More recent history (20th century stuff) interests me. But I get less and less interested as you go farther and farther back in time. At least until Greek and Roman times when it gets kind of interesting again. But for the most part. Snore. I can get excited about English, and Science, and Math, but usually never about History. Currently I am taking AP European History, so maybe it is just the European exclusiveness of the subject that becomes boring. Next year it will be AP US History, so I think I'll be more interested because US history is a more relevant to me in the here and now.

AP Euro is kind of cool. I mean, half of the class is naming which king fought with which pope over which territory, and then the French Revolution. But much of it is interesting.

Greek History is what i find fascinating.

I think the class is what is off putting. Moreso than the subject matter, at least. We've got this dinosaur of a teacher that just lectures on and on in a monotone voice. All you do is take notes. I'd probably be in love with history if I had, say, my English teacher teaching it (my English teacher rocks). Generally, I love school. I love being an educated person, but if when a class structure or a teacher is off putting enough, I can't get into it.

And a correction on my first post: Spanish is my least favorite. My teacher is obnoxious.

I loved "A Tale of Two Cities." I was one of the only ones who actually enjoyed it. Other than me, this one girl, and my teacher everyone hated it.

I like English a lot. I used to read things last year like a porno and the teacher thought it was hilarious. Guess that made it more enjoyable. But on a serious note i love how you can express things in a myraid of ways and produce different emotions and effects on people. Its the same intertwined relationship with the way music can affect mood as well that intrigues me.

AP euro was such an awesome class for me. My friend and I both did nothing throughout the whole year, got C's in the class, used an extra credit opp at the end of the year when we had no signifigant point basis in second semester to raise our grades to A's, and he got a 4 on the exam and i got a 5. I just knew the Reformation, Imperialism, and the World War's really well and did fine. I loved that class. So great.

AHHH damn im hate ENGLISH!! is sucks sooo bad.

not to mention my teach is liek 400lbs *no im not joking* and everytime she walks she shakes the smartboard (a super high tech chalk board... not sure if other schools have them) and then she has to "reorient it because of the dance class down the hall" when really its her fat ass who shakes it.

not to mention she gets everything wrong.

one time she told me something on my paper was completely wrong and she goes "come see me at my desk" then she went over my paper and asked me to point out stuff and when i pointed out everything that she asked for she goes "oh, i knew it was right, i just wanted to see if you would get pissed off like you just did" and i was like "bull u just know your wrong and don't want to admit it" she got pretty upset....

I hate English. We don't actually learn much about how the language works, we read literature (I like reading, fyi) and analyze it. When you analyze it, all the conclusions you draw are a matter of opinion. It seems like a trite subject because it doesn't matter at all what some author's opinion and viewpoint is. Sure, it's good to be exposed to different useful ideas from different people, but the way the English subject is designed is such that your opinion basically has to be that of the majority to pass the standardized tests and you have to think like them, it's just ridiculous.

I like math and physics. That's why I'm in AP Calculus and Physics but no AP English. I do really well in English, but I didn't do AP because I don't like the subject and that would be hell for me. I don't want to express myself creatively aside from music, it doesn't feel like I'm doing anything important, whereas in science you learn natural laws and math you learn problem solving skills in addition to things that can be applied to real life. History you can learn about how the world and politics came to be the way it is and such, in English you just learn about stories and such. It just doesn't seem like I'm learning anything that'll really interest me or is important really. But to each his own, there's certainly a use for all the English majors in society, I just think it sucks.

Ex’sAndOh’s, are you doing HSC English? Because that is definitely the worst subject ever.

It’s not even really English. Just a bunch of analysing “techniques” which is a load of bullshit anyway. I haven’t learned any skills over the last year or so that will help me be a better engineer (which is what I want to do after I finish school), yet English is still compulsory. Fucking ridiculous. I’m pretty sure when the Twin Towers fell down, they didn’t look over the Engineering reports looking for quotes and metaphors from Skrzynecki poems, so why do they make me study it???

New South Wales education system/laws in general suck.

End Rant.
