EDIT (January 1st 2008): This thread will also be used to just discuss vintage guitars, how to maintain them, where to get them, etc.

If you could have any vintage guitar any brand what would it be? Be sure to include the guitar's brand and year to give us a clear example of what the guitar would be! If you want to, include pics. Mine would be:

Brand:

Fender

Year:

1962

Specs:

Finish: Three-tone Sunburst
Fretboard: Rosewood
Pickups: Stock
Unique features + misc: Double-Bound Body, mint pickguard, "ashtray" pickup cover

On a side note, let's try to keep this thread Vintage Guitar-Related Only, so please keep it to only pre-1980's guitars. Enjoy!

I'm gonna introduce a rule for this thread. From now on, you must include a pic of the guitar.

^Okay, but what happened to the previous posts?

I deleted them.

I am a big sucker for vintage guitars though; there would be loads that I would have. I'll just leave it at that one though for now.

Brand:
Fender

Year:
1958

Specs:[
Finish: Sherwood Green
Fretboard: Maple
Pickups: Stock

Side note: It has probably been left out in the cold or something because you can see lots of cracks in the finish.

The good thing about that guitar is I don't need to want to have it because I have it!

I have a goya rangemaster... needs a serious refret and a lot of contact cleaner... i'm thinking of making a new neck for it (that headstick is hideous) and making my own pickguard and tossing modern electronics into it... but i'm not sure...

kartman, you have excellent taste, that to is what I would pick. My dad has a 1967 custom that he bought brand new in sunburst, unfortunatly, he painted over the original finish way back when nobody ever figured it would be worth anything. But the original finish is still under there somewhere. Sorry I have no pics at this time, but this is a great thread, thanks.

I'd get a '66 Gibson SG with a Maestro Tremolo, Mahogany Body, Rosewood Fingerboard, everything stock. That's if I had all the money in the world. Gibby should re-issue this thing. Should look like this:
