Discuss Hinder.

I went to their concert in Waterloo, Iowa and they are GREAT!! I loved the setup, but they had a huge delay, it was a BSC, Finger 11, and Hinder concert and in between Finger 11 and Hinder there was a huge delay. (Why am I telling you this?)

Anyways.

What do you think of them??

Hehe, my friend absolutely hates them. Sometimes I sing Lips of an Angel just to piss him off.

Lips of an Angel does suck, Get Stoned, Better than Me, and How Long are all great songs though. They are a good band for only being a year old.

Hinder is what you get when you take 4 guys and put them in a room togther and say "write as many rock songs" as possible. They're generic, sappy, and the singer has a bad singing voice. They remind me much of Nickelback.

I believe this belongs in the "Absolute Shit Bands" forum

They sounds like shit. The lead singer sounds like he swallowed a cat. They have the most worthless generic lyrics ever made, which are about getting drunk, smoking and sex They just need to die.

Is it just me or does the solo in Lips Of An Angel not fit the song AT ALL? It almost sounds off key.

As far as talent goes, I think Austin shows the most for his. He's a really good singer, and I've tried singing some of his songs. A lot of the time, I can't perfectly stay in key because it usually goes way too low or way too high for me.

Hinder is a great band. Their first album was basically themed with a bad break-up(s) and they wrote an album on things of that nature. I know a lot of fans hate it when a CD has a basic theme to it, because the lyrics often reflect each other. Other examples of this are Three Days Grace (living in a small town) and One-X (isolation). One-X especially, if you look at reviews on Ultimate-Guitar.com, you'll see the lyrics are one of the most criticized parts.

So yes, Hinder is a depressing, sappy band that can't get over a relationship. Why? Because that's what their first album was about! I like them. The first time I heard them (before they were on the radio), I could really relate to their songs, especially Lips of an Angel. They helped me through a lot, which biases my opinion into liking them. That and I don't mind softer songs, unike some people.

Exactly, do you see Three Days Grace saying that? Crossfade? INXS? Incubus? All great bands with nothing to show for it.

To be quite honest, I find Hinder to be particularly.... phony. If you watch they're new stuff, and their old stuff, I just find they're trying really hard to... fit the image so people will like them in their newer stuff. I'm not exactly sure what it is, but I just can't watch and video of them at all and find them to be genuine, and it seems to come off a little in their music as well.

Edit:

So they say it, but are they actually doing it? I wouldn't say they've accomplished anything to that end yet. So far they've just had 2 or 3 semi-successful songs, and I wouldn't say they've changed rock at all. Get Stoned? Definitely not. Lips of an angel? Pretty typical love song. They've got some talent and it's well done, but it's not changing rock. Although I wont comment on INXS and the other bands you mentioned, I would disagree about Incubus. They've got a very original sound that although it may not have absolutely changed rock, has at least added a feel to it that no other band seems to have. Comparatively, Hinder is quite unoriginal. Most of there songs are very straight forward rock (not that there's anything wrong with that).

Meh, I wouldn't really say MORE talented... just that they play things that people have been dying to hear. My best example is "Better Than Me". "I really miss your hair in my face.... You deserve much better than me..." two great lines. Easy to write, and really effective.

Mixed feelings.

Get Stoned and How Long are catchy songs, but Lips of an Angel is god awful and now when all the preps and jocks say they love Hinder, they only love that song.

The band is good in general. Too bad their singer is tone deaf and can't sing live.
#28
In AUS Lips of an Angel was the only one that got big....and it sucks ass.

Seriously, its some chords, lame lyrics, distortion and plain boring.

Incubus, RHCP, Pearl Jam, Tool, Powderfinger, Silverchair, Muse, John Butler Trio and many other are examples of great/unique bands.

Hinder is an unoriginal, bland band who sound like a poppier version of Nickleback.

sorry about the rant, but that my opinion....

Hinder sucks on a grand scale. Lips of An Angel was good for maybe the first couple of times I heard it, but now, its worn out and just stupid. The rest of their songs suck ass. They're the ultimate fad band, and will probably fade out in the next year or so
#32
Thy're gunna die out soon. Theyll make another album and not a lot of people will buy it. Then theyll make one more and nobody will buy it. They might be the worst band out their now, they bring nothing to music. All thier songs sound exactly the same, and they all suck.

About 2 years ago they played this dumb local festival that our local radio station puts on called "Manfest" (yeah the name is promising already isn't it ) nearby where I live.

Basically it's loaded with C grade generic rock bands and nu-metal. Stuff like Powerman 5000, Smile Empty Soul, Tantric, Default, and ofcourse Hinder. And on top of that there's plenty of beer flowing (more beer than most of these Fresno meth heads need), paintball karaoke, a full fledged ring set up for amateur backyard wrestlers, hot chicks mud wrestling (about the only thing worth going for) and it's hosted by a midget pornstar from LA named Bridget the Midget (who also performed with a band of her own)...

So basically it's an outing for drunken, nu-metal, junior college guys with small dicks. And from what I understand Hinder stank it up (as if it couldn't get anyworse). Then to find out not too long after that they're getting so big I was perplexed. It made me wonder... is the rest of America literally as stupid as everybody who attended manfest???
